You may find it surprising that it’s Cagliari in fourth and Juventus in seventh rather than the other way around, but that’s a testament to the excellent start to the Serie A season from Sunday night’s hosts. This should be an extremely competitive game, but one where goals are likely to be at a premium, so bet accordingly.

Cagliari - Juventus Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals
Juventus’ struggles over the last few years have been well documented, and their standing in both Italian and European football is a shadow of what it was some 10 or 15 years ago, proof of which was their sixth-place finish last season in Serie A that cost them a place in this season’s Champions League.
But they’ve made a decent start to the 2026/7 campaign with 10 points from three wins, a draw and a defeat, putting them in seventh place under the management of the uber-experienced Luciano Spalletti. Argentinian striker Nico Gonzalez, Brazilian defender Bremer, French forward Randal Kolo Muani and Portuguese winger Francisco Conceicao have been among the best performers, but they’ve badly missed playmaker Kenan Yildiz, who suffered a back injury in August and is unlikely to return before December.
On Sunday night they travel to Cagliari, who, somewhat surprisingly, are two points and three places above them in the Serie A table after a brilliant start that has seen them be one of four clubs that have opened the season with four wins from five, Roma, Inter Milan and Lazio being the others.
This fixture away at Cagliari hasn’t been easy for Juventus over the past three seasons: they lost 1-0 last season, won 1-0 the season before, and drew 2-2 the one before that.
Predicting which team will take all three points, or whether it will be a draw, is therefore easier said than done, so a better option may be the goals markets.
Two of the last three between them in Cagliari went under 2.5 goals. Four of Juve’s five games in Serie A have gone that way as well, which curiously is exactly the same number as for Cagliari games, all of those four ending exactly 1-0, four of them in Cagliari wins and the other their sole loss of the campaign when at home to Inter.
So plenty of head-to-head stats and season-long numbers suggest an attritional game between two teams playing at a similar level at the moment. There’s also the angle that after a long international break, teams may be more focused on not losing and sticking to the basics, which also plays into our view that goals may be at a premium here.
You can get 1.75 for under 2.5 goals, and as we’ve just seen, there are plenty of reasons to think that’s a good bet.
- Bet: Back Under 2.5 goals
- Odds: 1.75 (at the time of writing)
Did You Know?
Given Cagliari have never been one of Serie A’s giants, far fewer famous players have turned out for them in the past than for the likes of Inter, AC Milan, or Juve.
But one notable exception is former Italian international Gianfranco Zola, who, after spells at Napoli. Parma and Chelsea, at 37, moved to Cagliari in 2005 and played there for two seasons, the first in Serie B, where they earned promotion. In total, Zola played 74 games for them, scoring 22 goals.
Of even greater interest is what happened in the final match of his career: he scored two against Juventus.
Fun Fact
The injured Kenen Yildiz was handed the Number 10 jersey at Juventus a couple of seasons ago, putting him in rich company of former players who have worn it in the past at Juve, including Paulo Dybala, Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio and Michel Platini.
However, during the five years he played at Juventus, the great Zinedine Zidane wore 21, while it was skipper Del Piero who wore 10.
