Match for the 2nd round of the Bundesliga, at MHP Arena, home of Stuttgart.
What We Know
- 10 of their last 11 duels ended with BTTS, and the last 7 with over 2.5 goals. Stuttgart scored in all of these games.
- Stuttgart have struggled at home in 2025 (3-0-7), with two of their wins coming in the DFB Pokal and a single Bundesliga win vs Augsburg.
Betting Tip Stuttgart - Mönchengladbach
Stuttgart are clearly the more talented side on the attacking side. Both teams have defensive issues and we expect plenty of action, including goals from both teams. The home win odds are too low, and the AH Over 3 is somewhat more appealing.
- Prediction: Over 3
- Odds: 1.68
- Stake: 4
Stuttgart
Stuttgart appear unwilling to finally learn their lesson. They managed to lose away at Union Berlin, despite being the better side for most of the game. They failed to convert any of their four big chances in the first half (including one that hit the post), and went down 0-2 thanks to a long-range attempt and a counterattack (18’ and 45+4’ respectively), coupled with lackadaisical defensive effort.
In the second, they dominated for about 30’ of the 53’ played (8’ of stoppage time), created several opportunities (missed four, including one that hit the post), but scored just once. Sebastian Hoeness needs to see some serious improvement from his team when it comes to finishing their chances and the intensity of their defensive effort at times.
Playing an attractive, rational brand of football is one thing, but it’s not enough. Football is about scoring goals.
One thing is for certain: the team is already under pressure in the league. This game is a must-win, and if such a win doesn’t come, there will be some serious questions to be asked in a negative climate. No one wants that.
Mönchengladbach
Borussia were uninspiring and uninspired in the goalless opener draw vs Hamburger SV. Few and far between were their attacking ideas, primarily long-range efforts. Mönchengladbach’s crosses were to no one in particular, and any combinations stopped before the opponent’s box. The team came close to a catastrophic end to the game, but they were just about able to avoid conceding in the 89th minute.
As expected, Tabakovic is not able to fill the void left by Kleindist, and the last game was a prime example of just that. Kleindist will be ready to play from November onwards, and Gladbach are almost inevitably expected to struggle scoring until then, especially vs defensively oriented teams.
Manager Gerardo Scoane saw a few things that went right for his team, including the clean sheet. To be sure, it came against a team that is notoriously poor on the attacking side, and therefore, it doesn’t quite mean that any former defensive shortcomings are gone for good.
We expect to see a different approach against Stuttgart, as the latter are expected to hold more of the ball. Gladbach are expected to find more space in the counterattack, and that might be an opportunity their rapid wingers can take advantage of.
