Betting Tip Eintracht Frankfurt - Werder Bremen

This game depends more on Eintracht. If they play at their usual level, they should prove more solid defensively and more threatening in attack than Werder Bremen. The home win is the likeliest outcome, even if the odds don’t scream value.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have grown used to cashing in on their best young talents, and this summer was no different as Ekitike left for Liverpool. His sale leaves coach Dino Toppmöller with the job of reshaping their front line.

For now, the attack lacks a standout. New arrival Burkardt will start, but he is not Ekitike, nor even Marmoush from last year. This means goals will have to come more from the supporting forwards and attacking midfielders.

They did just that in the 5-0 first-round Cup win over Engers, with Doan and Bahoya leading the way, but tougher Bundesliga tests await. Burkardt’s injury history is a concern, while questions remain over whether Wahi or Batshuayi can finally deliver after their underwhelming performance last season.

Another key issue is in goal. Trapp is expected to depart, and heir apparent Kaua Santos remains sidelined long-term. A replacement is needed, with Bremen’s Zetterer the most likely candidate. Elsewhere, the squad looks well stocked, though the club are still seeking a more complete holding midfielder than Skhiri.

Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen enter the season with serious doubts after a shock Cup exit to Arminia Bielefeld, even if it came mainly due to  Bittencourt’s red card. The squad looks thin, especially up front, after the exits of Burke, Ducksch and Silva. Attacking reinforcements are badly needed.

Last season’s top scorer was midfielder Stage with 10 goals, and his injury absence makes matters worse. His creativity and scoring ability will be missed at the start of the season.

New coach Horst Steffen faces a huge task with limited resources. He has inherited a side that lost key players in every part of the field, has little depth beyond its starting eleven. He's now without their second-best midfielder, Weiser, due to a serious injury. If goalkeeper Zetterer also completes his expected move to Frankfurt, 21-year-old Backhaus will step in as a starter. He is talented but untested at this level.

Plainly put, without reinforcements before the transfer deadline, Werder Bremen are unlikely to finish above mid-table.
