Betting Tip: Brazil - Chile

Brazil appears to be rejuvenated, and they will be facing the most dysfunctional team of the group. Chile is in a long-term struggle, and the odds will be against them in Rio De Janeiro. Even though Brazil has no real incentive, we will back them to win, combined with BTTS: No.

Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as Brazil manager was a turning point for the team. It came in the aftermath of a rough 4-1 loss to Argentina, and was followed by a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Ecuador (one of the standouts of the group), and a 1-0 victory over Paraguay.

These two results essentially clinched Brazil’s presence in the World Cup, and the last two games of the qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia will have no real effect on the standings. However, there is always the expectation for Brazil to perform at the highest level.

Considering the ups and downs of this qualifying stage, these two games are an excellent opportunity for the players to inspire more confidence in themselves. Qualification is settled, and that means the team will aspire to play a stress-free kind of football.

They have been very solid at home, sporting a 5-2-1 record (21-16 goal difference), with the only defeat coming in November 2023 to Argentina (0-1).

Chile

Chile is by far the most disappointing team of the group. A far cry from the glories of Copa America wins in 2015 and 2016, Chile is very likely to finish last in the group. It goes without saying that any hopes of playoff participation have been squashed. The Chileans have won just two games in this qualifying group, while drawing four and losing ten games.

Ricardo Gareca’s dismissal as manager was expected and justified, while Nicolas Cordoba, manager of the U20 team, will be the team’s interim manager for the remainder of the games.

Naturally, no one is particularly invested in the final two games in Brazil and at home against  Uruguay. The players have nothing to play for but their own competitive spirit and preserving a semblance of respectability.

Chile have failed to win even a single time away from home in this group, losing seven games and drawing one, while sporting a terrible 1-17 goal difference. To make matters worse, they have not defeated Brazil in nearly 70 years, following a Copa America win in 1956.
