Bayern
Bayern’s 3-3 draw to Leipzig proved to be enough to return them to their throne, as Leverkusen failed to beat Freiburg. They got the German Championship crown for the 34th time in the club’s history.
The match started in a poor position for Vincent Kompany’s team, seeing Leipzig score two goals by the end of the first half. Bayern regrouped themselves and scored three times within 21 minutes of the second half (62’, 63’, 83’), but dropped their guard in the extra time and Leipzig found the net, thus equalising at the very end of the match.
Still, Bayern are the best German team this season with the most wins (23), 93 goals scored, and the fewest goals conceded (32). They’re off their own record for the most goals scored in one season (101), but they still have more games to play.
A successful season, despite losses in the Champions League semifinals and DFB Pokal Final. Next week, they’ll travel to Hoffenheim.
Gladbach
Gladbach’s match against Hoffenheim ended in a 4-4 draw. The team has a tendency to concede as many goals as they score. They started strong, led by Chiarodia and Reitz, who both scored a goal in the first half. At the 81’ Hoffenheim took back the lead (3-4) and, during the injury time, Kleindienst brought the game to a tie.
This ended their three-match losing streak. They have a great offence and have scored 10 goals in their last 4 matches, but have only gained a single point out of them. In defence, they’re completely lacking. In their last 8 Bundesliga matches, they only managed to keep one clean sheet.
Gerardo Seoane’s team remains 9th in the table, with their last win on 29 March against Leipzig (1-0). So much of the European football for them, as they’re five points behind.
