Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen disappointed its fans with the performance and result for the second consecutive matchday, drawing 1-1 at home to St. Pauli. They couldn't put in a good performance, despite scoring just after the halfway point of the first half through their top scorer, Schick.

They were not threatening at all, especially in the second half, when they took only four shots. The equaliser came in the 78th minute from a set piece, causing Leverkusen to drop points yet again.

Both in this match and in the previous one, which they drew 0-0 at home against Union Berlin, they showed no imagination on the offensive side. In general, they seem to struggle in creating chances and consequently, scoring.

In their last four matches, in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, they have scored only three times in a total of 360 minutes of play.

After these two consecutive draws, Bayern Munich now has an 8-point gap, effectively putting Leverkusen out of the title race with four rounds remaining. Both the team's coach, Xabi Alonso, and Patrick Schick acknowledged that in their recent statements.

Thus, the title holder will settle for 2nd place and a ticket to the League Phase of the 2025/26 Champions League.

Augsburg

They demonstrated the necessary focus in their home game against Eintracht Frankfurt, managing to leave the pitch with a goalless draw and a hard-earned point. The first half was balanced, but after the break, the visitors had the initiative and threatened more consistently.

However, they couldn’t break through Augsburg's defence, one of the best in the league, especially after the winter break.

Jess Thorup's side kept a clean sheet again, breaking a streak of three games in which they had conceded at least one goal. They are still fighting for 6th place, which leads to the Conference League qualifiers, although the other contenders might have an advantage over them.

Augsburg has 43 points, ranking 10th in the standings, 4 points behind 6th-placed Mainz. Three other teams are between them and Mainz, and they will all fight for the same goal.

This will be a difficult task for Augsburg, but one they will surely fight for, having lost just once in their last 5 games (2-2-1).
