Barcelona

Hansi Flick rotated the squad against Valladolid last weekend, and it could cost them points. Barcelona managed to get a 1-2 win, coming back in the second half. The team’s best players, Raphinha and Yamal, led their team to a comeback, despite falling behind in the 6th minute.

The Brazilian equalised in the 54th minute while Fermin Lopez gave his team the lead six minutes after that. It was the fourth league goal of the campaign for the talented midfielder. The Blaugrana are in tremendous form. Barcelona has scored 91 goals in the league, 46 of them at home. Sixteen of their 34 games this season have seen over 3,5 goals.

Marc Andre Ter Stegen returned after several months and an injury absence, and he was happy about the return and the win. He also praised his manager for managing the roster.

Flick has led Barcelona to an unbeaten 2025 in all domestic competitions. Barca have won two titles already, both against Real Madrid. Forward Robert Lewandowski will be returning and is expected to get minutes.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid made their life more difficult than it should have been, but ended up defeating Celta 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu. They took a lead through Guler’s stunner (33’), his second consecutive game with a goal. Mbappe doubled their lead six minutes later with an excellent finish.

He added a third early in the second (48’). After that, Carlo Ancelotti’s side relaxed and conceded twice (69’, 76’), nearly conceding a third as well, but goalkeeper Courtois managed to keep the score at those levels.

It was their third straight league win, and the La Liga is their only remaining goal this season, following the Supercopa and Copa del Rey defeats, both to Barcelona, alongside the Champions League defeat to Arsenal.

They have won three consecutive away games in the league, nine in 17 games. They are the second-best attack in the league with 69 goals, while over 2,5 goals were scored in 20 of their games.

Camavinga remains out for the foreseeable future with an injury, as does Rudiger. There are no other serious injuries in the squad for Real Madrid, who are already rumoured to be in the market for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who announced his departure from his boyhood club Liverpool.

A win here will bring the deficit from Barca down to one point, and they will face Mallorca next week.
