Regular readers of my game reviews would know by now how much I hate games that have non-paying Wild, Scatter and Bonus symbols. The reason for this hatred is very simple and logical - a lot of small winning opportunities have been removed by their omissions. Getting regular 2 Scatters, for example, would pay nothing, whereas other better games would pay at least 1x the bet amount, or even 2x. That keeps your credit balance going for more plays. Without these small payouts, I always find my balance draining away at faster speeds!
This Gushers Gold game from Rival is yet another one of such games - both the Wild and Scatter symbols are completely non-paying, so imagine the disappointment when you get 5 of the Scatters and get nothing in payment! To me, this is utterly rubbish! Yes, getting 5 Wild symbols, if ever you can get them, would still pay by its substitution, but this is never acceptable enough to me, because the highest paying substituted symbol would not usually have a good win value. In the case of this game, for example, such a win would only pay 50x the total bet amount, which is 4 to 5 lesser than the usual standards.
The Wild symbols only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, expands into a full Wild Reel with any wins, but is yet another characteristic that doesn't work well for players. Why? Simply because most of the time, the fourth reel would not have any winning symbols, or have only low symbols, resulting in lowish payouts. Yes, I have had a couple of times of these 3 WIld Reels, yet not one win paid anything more than 20x my bet amount! All the 2 or 3 Wild Reels should be adjacent to one another, side by side, in order to produce good payouts, so this is one more design concept typical of Rival games that I simply cannot like at all!
Getting 3 or more of the Lady Scatter symbols can be even more disappointing - 3, 4 or 5 of them would only award 5, 10 or 20 free spins, and even with that 3x multiplier, these free spins could hardly pay above 20x! Out of the 11 Free Spins games that I had managed to get, 5 of them paid nothing, or almost nothing! That's almost half of the total number of Free Spins games that I played! There was one game where I got a total of 20 free spins with retriggers, but the final payout was not even 20x my bet amount - absolutely disappointing!
Getting 3 of the non-paying Bonus symbols award a Bonus game, and it is from one of these bonus games that I finally got a decent 49x win. However, in the other bonus games, the payouts were not that good, but definitely better than what the free spins paid!

After playing several hours on this game, which wasn't my first time playing it by the way, as I have played it a few times before over the years, I have to say that this is one game to be avoided at all cost!
