My deposit withheld and account locked

Hello


I made some deposits on this website after providing my passport copy and address in form of my water bill. I lost my initial deposits, no issues. Then the last deposit of £5000 I made is being withheld with no reason provided to me and no timeline of when I will get it back, the account is frozen for deposits, withdrawals or to make bets. Its my own money and not winnings, and having checked the gambling commission website, I believe they can't do this. Main reason for wanting to withdraw the deposit and close the account is red flag that after the deposit they asked for my debit card details in full. Usually some numbers at front and pin-code should be covered and this is what I sent them so they have record of the card I used for my deposit. They further asked for access to my bank account via a website, I don't trust this and will not give them access to my bank account. I don't believe I need to when only wanting to withdraw my own deposit and close the account as there is no question of affordability and/or player safety concerns from their side. After they locked my account, I actually received an email from their CS team to say I can withdraw the funds and they would then close the account, when I went to do this, I saw that they still had still restricted access to my funds and when I queried this they wrote back saying they changed their minds and management wanted to review my account. Again, no reason was given for this reverse in decision or an actual reason why they are holding my own deposit. Please see below emails regarding this.

I just want my own money back, I don't believe they can legally hold onto it especially with no reason given or timeline of when they will allow me to do this, its not winnings but my own funds for which I have sent them debit card and I was verified with passport and address already. I'm not giving anyone access to my bank account via a website I don't trust. I have sent them many emails asking for my money only to get the same generic response: your account is under review and we can't provide a time-frame but we'll be in touch. BTW, I have since checked and won a sportsbet on their of £64.91, I'm not sure if they can hold onto this, I'm really not bothered, I just want my own money back and the account closed.

Kindly note that the account has been set to withdraw only and you welcome to withdraw your balance at anytime. Once this has been done, we will then close the account for you as requested.

I doubt Midnite will reply or attempt to resolve the issue in a correct and timely manner. I've done nothing wrong but ask for my own money to be returned and the account to be closed. It's highly dubious of them to agree to my withdrawal and to close the account then reverse the decision and lock my account with no feedback/reasoning or time-frame. As per Gambling Commission website: Players must be informed that they are allowed to withdraw their deposit balance at any time; and A customer’s un-staked deposits remain their property.

I have never been asked to provide my debit card details in full which made me very suspicious, this is not standard procedure nor is wanting access to my bank account via 3rd party website. This situation has caused me stress and anxiety, £5000 is not pocket change.

Out of respect for your procedure and your request not to discuss my case publicly until a resolution is achieved I have refrained from posting about this situation on any public forums/review sites but obviously I will do this if they do not even have the professionalism to reply to me on emails or to you on this site. I will also have to follow up with a formal complaint via ADR or IBAS as per gambling commission instructions.
