Genoa put in a valiant effort in one half of the home game against Milan. During that time, they missed three huge chances to take the league, fouled each time by talented Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
They did eventually take the lead in the second half with Vitinha, but that did not last. Genoa dropped back and Milan took advantage, equalising in the 76th minute and taking the lead (and the win) just a minute after that through an own goal.
That was Genoa’s third consecutive defeat, and their fourth game without a win. It is rather obvious that, since Patrick Vieira’s side secured another season in the top flight, they have been complacent, considering nothing meaningful is at stake any more.
