Inter Miami
If the two goalkeepers in the clash between Al Ahly and Inter Miami were not so effective, we would probably have seen a very different finals scoreline. Both the Miami side and the Egyptians created plenty of chances to score at least once, to no avail.
The goalless draw was an unappealing result for both teams. Inter Miami will therefore be called to win at least one game out of the two against Porto and Palmeiras, in order to have any chances of qualifying for the knockout stage of the tournament.
Despite facing a very talented team, Lionel Messi’s side cannot afford to shift their attacking-minded approach. That’s what they do best, and they certainly are not the team to be consistently relied upon for a clean sheet. Their games are high-scoring affairs, and apart from the goalless draw against Al Ahly, the Americans have consistently been part of games with BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals.
The same is expected of them now. Messi will lead the way up front, knowing that it’s hard to expect a second consecutive clean sheet.
Porto
Porto have got to feel that the goalless draw against Palmeiras was a fair result. They did not play particularly well, despite having the upper hand for most of the game, and they almost lost the game at times. Fortunately for them, the other two teams drew against each other as well, and the Portuguese maintained an advantage in their quest to qualify for the knockout stage. Still, they need to do their duty.
They certainly have the talent to overcome the hosts, even if they have not taken advantage of it recently. They can take advantage of the poor defensive shape and performances of the Americans if they simply play up to their abilities. Porto ought to score at least once.
The bigger question revolves around the challenge of containing Lionel Messi. Porto is expected to put a significant emphasis on stopping the Argentine, and if they manage to do so, they will have an advantage.
