Mission accomplished for Getafe, so they won’t be particularly motivated coming into this one. Celta, on the other hand, need a win to clinch their Europa League spot, and a draw won’t do. Our pick is Celta Win.

  • Prediction: Celta win
  • Odds: 1.87 (at the time of writing)
  • Stake: 7

Getafe

Getafe faced Mallorca in a crucial game and were able to come away with a win, a result that clinched their survival in the La Liga. They started off the game strong, and they maintained their performance through the second half, scoring twice in 10 minutes to take a commanding lead, thanks to Arambarri and Uche. Mallorca were only able to score a consolation goal in stoppage time.

Manager Bordalas acknowledged that this season has been one of the most difficult of his career. He claimed he was certain his team would find the mental toughness to fight back late in the season, and he was delighted to see Getafe secure another season in the top flight.

That was the first win for Getafe after six consecutive defeats, and five games without scoring a single goal. They are the team with the second-worst attacking output this season (just 33 goals scored), while only 12 of their games have ended with over 2.5 goals and 15 with BTTS.

Celta

Celta were defeated 1-2 at home to Rayo Vallecano and remain in 7th place. That leads them to the League phase of next season’s Europa League, but they will need to win here in order to clinch that. Last week, they took the lead through Marcos Alonso’s penalty, but they conceded chances rather easily and saw the game turn around in the remainder of the first half.

They recovered from the shock in the second half and created several chances to equalise, but to no avail. Manager Giraldez tried to calm down the atmosphere after the game, emphasising his team’s ability and attacking talent.

He apologised to the fans for his team’s performance and result, and appeared confident ahead of the game against Getafe.

Celta have been impressive this season on the attack, only one of their last six has not ended with BTTS & Over 2,5 Goals. 23 of their 37 games have ended with over 2.5 goals, and 25 saw BTTS. If they manage to hold on to 7th, they will return to European football for the first time since the 2016/2017 season and their Europa League semi-final run.
