Fulham

Fulham might very well be the most unpredictable team in the Premier League, capable of the best and the worst. They have zero draws in their last 10 in all competitions, and that speaks volumes. Four wins in those games, the last of which came last week.

Before that, they’d suffered defeats at the hands of Aston Villa (1-0) and Everton (1-3). They were inferior to Villa, but dominated Everton until the latter scored two goals out of nowhere. Fulham did make up for that with a fortunate win against Brentford.

In that game, their performance was subpar. They did take the lead thanks to an early goal by Jimenez, but they lost it before the half was out, with Brentford also missing a penalty. In the second half, however, Marco Silva’s players were able to gain ground on the pitch and scored twice in a two-minute span thanks to Cairney and Wilson. They withstood significant pressure for twenty minutes and came away with a win.

It’s hard to say what they’ll be up to against City. They do have some motivation in finishing eighth, and of course, it would be nice to end the season on a positive note with a win in front of their home crowd.

Manchester City

Manchester City showed the requisite mental strength to recover from the FA Cup final defeat, and are now in position to punch their Champions League ticket. The loss to Palace was a big ego blow, but the win vs Bournemouth helped them move past it.

They started off strong with a wonder goal by Marmoush, and it was smooth sailing after that. They dominated, even though they were lucky to see Evanilson’s effort hit the post. Bernardo Silva doubled their lead, and at that point, the game was out of Bournemouth’s reach.

Still, City displayed sloppiness. Kovacic got himself sent off in the 67th minute to save his team from a serious predicament, though Bournemouth’s Cook also got a red card a few minutes later to balance things out.

The Cityzens added a third in the 89th minute, though they failed to keep a clean sheet, thanks to a last-minute goal by Jebbison. Pep Guardiola’s team needs just a single point in order to clinch their Champions League spot, while Fulham have not much to play for. Thanks to the goal difference, City will only get in trouble if they lose.
