Betting Tip Real Madrid - Juventus

Real Madrid took a rather cynical approach in their last two group matches, but now they are facing their most challenging test in the competition. Juventus were disappointing against Manchester City, indicating a lack of high-end talent and squad depth for the highest level. Considering Mbappe will more than likely be back in the starting lineup, our pick is Real Madrid to win.

  • Betting tip: Real Madrid to win

Real Madrid

Real Madrid faced Salzburg for the last game of the group stage and had no trouble getting an easy 3-0 victory, leading them to the knockout stage atop Group H. They scored twice with Valverde and Vinicius at a crucial point of the game, right before the end of the first half, making the second a much less complicated affair.

Salzburg were competitive for much of it, creating chances and threatening Courtois but failing to convert. Xabi Alonso’s team finished the job, scoring a third with young forward Gonzalo Garcia, a surprise standout in this tournament.

In their last two against Salzburg and Pachuca, Real Madrid have managed to be much more clinical, in stark contrast to their first game against Al Hilal, a game that saw them miss several opportunities, including a penalty.

Real storm out of the gates in every game, seeking to take an early lead. The stats reflect this so far in the competition, as the Madrid side scored 5 of their 7 goals in the first half.

On a further positive note, superstar Kylian Mbappe will be returning to action in this one against Juventus, overcoming a health problem.

Juventus

Their recent performance against Manchester City was rather disappointing, as Juventus suffered a rough 2-5 defeat at the hands of the Cityzens. They were the worse side every step of the way, and they were unable to gain the upper hand at any stage of the game.

They fell behind early (9’) and equalised just two minutes later with Koopmeiners, conceding, however, a second goal in the 26th minute. Their worst stretch of the game came between the 52nd and the 75th minute, a period that saw them concede thrice.

Their only consolation came with Vlahovic in the 84th minute. Juventus created a grand total of shot attempts, against Manchester City’s 24 attempts. This performance came after two comfortable wins against weaker competition (Al Ain 5-0, Wydad Casablanca 4-1). When the going got tough, Juventus folded.

It is clear they don’t possess the high-end talent needed to hang with teams like Manchester City, or even the top Italian sides, evident from their disappointing 4th place finish in this season’s Serie A.

They faltered in the Champions League too, struggling to just about make it through to the knockout stage, finishing 20th in the League Phase.
