Flamengo - Bayern Betting Tip

Flamengo have performed admirably in this competition, capped off by the historic comeback victory over Chelsea in the group stage. They are hungry for more, while the Bayern Munich side has been performing at the bare minimum level so far. They will need to ramp up the intensity if they want silverware. The Bavarians will find a way, and our pick is Bayern Munich WIN & Over 1,5.

  • Betting tip: Bayern Munich WIN & Over 1.5
  • Odds: 1.95 (at the time of writing)
  • Stake: 6

Flamengo

All the action in Flamengo’s game against Los Angeles came in the last two minutes of the game. The 1-1 final score came after the Americans scored in the 84th minute, followed by the Brazilian equaliser just two minutes later. Flamengo had already qualified for the next stage and approached the game rather nonchalantly. Los Angeles FC showed more activity, despite already being out of contention for a ticket to the knockout stage.

Flamengo managed to score in all three of their games, running a 7-game scoring streak in all competitions. In five of these games, they scored at least twice. The game against LA FC was their second straight where BTTS came through, though just the 3rd in their last 10.

Manager Filipe Luis is not expecting any players to be absent from the game against the Germans, a team he will face for the fourth time (first as a manager) after winning 2 games and losing 1 as a player. If they make it through, they will face the winner of the PSG / Inter Miami matchup.

Bayern

The defeat against Benfica proved to be entirely harmless for Bayern Munich, considering they advanced to the round of 16 and will be facing a nominally weaker team than their Portuguese opponents. The Germans rotated their squad in the loss, conceding the sole goal of the game in the 13th minute.

They wasted several opportunities to equalise - Sane alone missed two opportunities face-to-face with the opposing goalkeeper. Kompany’s players might have also been affected by the heatwave, failing to score for the first time in 18 games.

After the impressive start against semi-professional side Auckland (10-0 win) and the ‘professional’ win over Boca Juniors (2-1), the Germans suffered a rare defeat. It was their first in 9 games in all competitions. It was also the 6th game in their last 8 ending without both teams scoring, while their matches have featured plenty of goals, 12 of their last 13 games saw over 2.5 goals.

Bayern will be at full strength against Flamengo, and the expectation is that Kompany will put back in his regular starters, hoping to stave off the constant criticism his team has been attracting for their performances in this tournament.
