Betting Tip: Roma – LOSC Lille
Since last season, Roma have developed a strong identity: they know how to get results, even without flair. At the Olimpico, their strength increases further, fuelled by passionate support.
Lille, on the other hand, continue to show defensive flaws on their travels. The home win is the logical choice, though the odds aren't exactly exciting.
- Recommendation: Roma wins
- Odds: 1.70 (at the time of writing)
Roma
Roma’s approach against Nice was the same as in their recent European outings. The game was tight and destined to be decided by fine margins. Three goals were scored, Roma got two of them, and they came away with the win.
The first half was scrappy, more fight than football. After the restart, things changed: Ndicka broke the deadlock (48’) and just three minutes later, Mancini doubled the lead (51’).
From then on, Roma sat deeper, gave Nice the ball, closed the spaces, and relied on counters. Nice managed only a late penalty conversion (77’), which reduced the score to 2-1, but no more.
Roma are winning without playing especially well. That is a positive sign, because if they do raise their level, they could be unstoppable. For now, progress is limited, but the team is clearly developing character.
LOSC Lille
At home against Brann, Lille were firm favourites, at least on paper. They got the win, but it was far harder than expected.
In the first half, they were completely blocked by the Norwegian side’s tactical setup, failing to create opportunities. The second half saw a change, with both teams opening up. Igamane put Lille ahead (54’), but they conceded an equaliser soon after (60’). Relief came late, when Giroud struck the winner (80’).
At home, Lille can build momentum and push teams back. Away from home, however, problems mount. Their defensive problems often leave them exposed, and the attack cannot always compensate.
