Betting Tip: Atletico Madrid - Eintracht Frankfurt

La Liga is considered one of Europe’s top two leagues, so it’s natural to see Atletico Madrid priced as favourites at home against a German opponent. However, both Atletico and Frankfurt have the quality and boldness, and they are coming with impressive victories from their weekend clashes.

There is no value in the home win at 1.65. For the brave, the double chance on Frankfurt (X2) is tempting. Alternatively, goals appear to be the logical choice, although the market is already cautious.

  • Recommendation: Over 2.5
  • Odds: 1.50 (at the time of writing)

Atletico Madrid

They came close to pulling off something few sides manage: leaving Anfield with a result after coming back from 0-2. Atletico battled hard and nearly secured a point, only to throw it all away by conceding deep into stoppage time and losing 3-2.

Completely unfocused at the start, they fell behind almost immediately. Robertson scored first (4’ minute) and Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead (6’). Despite the shock, Atletico gradually regained composure and began to fight back.

Llorente was the standout performer. He reduced the deficit (45’) and then equalised (81’). In between, Atletico survived several scares of conceding a third. Just as they seemed to be escaping with a heroic draw, van Dijk headed home from a corner (92’).

Since the start of the season, results have been poor, with defensive lapses and structural gaps a recurring theme. Things could be improving after a 5-2 victory against Real Madrid last weekend, with an excellent performance all around the pitch from Atletico.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht delivered a statement performance in their League Phase opener, sweeping Galatasaray aside 5-1 in front of their fans.

It didn’t start smoothly, as the Turkish side struck first through Akgun (8’). But the Germans stayed calm, took control of the tempo, and turned the game around. A frantic ten-minute spell before halftime flipped everything: an own goal (37’) brought them level, Uzun put them ahead (42’), and Burkardt made it 3-1 (45+2’).

Burkardt struck again (66’) for 4-1, and Knauff consolidated the triumph (75’). Frankfurt are playing entertaining, attacking football that makes them a joy to watch. We also witnessed quite a show in their 4-6 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
