 Betting Tip Brighton - Liverpool

Liverpool has been understandably relaxed recently. They both concede and score frequently, while Brighton is also a team that is prone to defensive lapses and attacking outbursts. The BTTS & Over 2.5 Goal combo is a potentially profitable combo.

Brighton

This has been a season characterised by lots of ups and downs and several unexpected missteps at home. Brighton failed to defeat any of the three relegated teams in front of their fans, and that basically did it for their hopes of finishing in the top 7.

It wasn’t gonna be easy anyway, as the competition is fiercer than ever, including positive surprises like Nottingham Forest. Brighton could not keep up with their competitors, not to mention their own inconsistency. They scored only two wins in their last eight league games.

They did manage to come away with a victory last week, however. They travelled to Molineux to face Wolves, and Danny Welbeck scored twice. The first one did not count, but the second did, his 10th of the season.

Brighton missed more chances and faced a few from the opposing side before Gruda doubled their lead in the 85th minute. An important, and much needed, clean sheet, the first in nine games, since their 0-4 thrashing of Southampton.

Liverpool

As expected, winning the league has brought relaxation and complacency into their ranks. It’s hard to predict how they’ll play in these games. First, a 3-1 away defeat to Chelsea, followed by a mini-meltdown against Arsenal at home that saw them squander a 2-0 lead.

They were threatened early, but Gakpo and Diaz scored in back-to-back minutes to give Liverpool a two-goal lead. They missed their chances for a third, and the second half was a different story.

Martinelli halved Liverpool’s lead in the 47th minute before Merino scored an equaliser 23 minutes later. He was promptly sent off in the 79th minute, giving Liverpool an opportunity to go for the win.

They had their chances, including Robertson’s disallowed goal, but they couldn’t manage to score. The game against Brighton is merely procedural, giving Arne Slot the opportunity to rotate his squad and see players further down in the depth chart.

Another question revolves around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s participation after getting booed by fans, following the announcement of his upcoming departure from his boyhood club.
