  • This is the 11th European competition final for Chelsea, and the first for Betis.

Betting Tip Betis - Chelsea

There is a clear favourite here, but not at its best. Chelsea has been inconsistent throughout the season, and they are shaky defensively. Betis can take advantage, but they’ll also struggle to keep a clean sheet. Therefore, our pick is BTTS.

Betis

This is the first European final in their history. Betis is not a team that has won many titles, having only one league title and three Copa del Rey wins, the latest of which came in 2022. However, they’ve been one of the stronger teams in this season’s competition.

Betis did not manage to make it into the top 8 of the league phase, but won their way through the knockout phase.

They overcame Gent in the play-off round, followed by Vitoria Guimaraes, Jagiellonia (quarter-finals), and the two terrific games against Fiorentina in the semis. They got a fantastic overtime victory in the second leg to clinch their spot in the final.

Everyone around Betis can only think about the final against Chelsea for a good while now. Four games without a win for the Andalusia side. The Verdiblancos have missed out on a top-5 finish in the league but secured a Europa League spot, so the skid is not that damaging.

Overall, they’ve been a much-improved team from the halfway point of the season onwards. Crucial to that has been an unlikely hero. Antony, chased out of Manchester, has been exceptional, proving to be the missing piece for a talented Betis side.

United’s recent Europa League final failure must serve as extra motivation for the Brazilian, who aims to capture a European title and medal.

Chelsea

Everyone around Chelsea was acutely aware that this was a must-win competition for a club of that calibre. Anything but that will be considered a failure. Of course, a final is a game where anything can happen, but a loss here will cause significant disruption in the club’s environment.

Chelsea has been by far the best team in the competition, proving that their ‘favourites’ moniker was well-deserved. First in the League phase, then knocked out Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw, and finally the Swedish side Djurgarden in the semi-finals, with two wins.

Truth be told, they have not quite faced any world-beaters so far. Betis will be by far the best team faced by the Blues in this season of European football. Chelsea has the upper hand in terms of roster quality and experience, but they will need to prove it on the pitch.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing recently for the team, and they had another must-win game this weekend against Nottingham Forest. They secured a Champions League spot, but the pressure for silverware remains, considering the significant amount of money spent by the new ownership group in the last few years.
