Betting Tip Atalanta - Parma

The only scenario that could see Parma be in a relegation position is if they are losing while both Empoli and Lecce are winning; a very unlikely scenario. With that in mind, we expect Atalanta to win and Parma not to be in any real danger. Recent results between the two nudge us towards going with Atalanta to win & over 2.5 goals scored.

  • Betting Tip: Atalanta to win + Over 2,5 goals
  • Odds: 2.40 (at the time of writing)
  • Stake: 3

Atalanta

Atalanta will conclude their season with an impressive 13 wins in 19 away games, the latest against Genoa. The Bergamaschi fell behind twice (37’ and 58’), but they were able to find answers both times, before Retegui earned a dramatic win for his team in the 89th minute.

The gap from 1st place is now only 5 points, and, considering that their away point tally is better than Napoli and Inter, it stands to reason that Gasperini’s side left a lot on the table with certain poor performances at home. The scudetto would have been within reach.

There’s obviously bitterness from the early Champions League exit to Club Brugge, especially considering the refereeing errors that plagued them in that tie. Still, the biggest question of the season is whether legendary manager Gasperini will remain at the helm for another season. He is under contract, but has refused to renew it.

Parma

Parma tried to salvage a point at Ennio Tardini against league leaders Napoli, and managed to do so thanks in large part to luck. Napoli hit the post thrice, and the referee was particularly lenient with the incessant time wasting by Christian Chivu’s players.

The Parmenzi are now two points clear of the relegation zone, and they can clinch their safety if they defeat Atalanta. A draw will result in the same if either Empoli or Lecce fail to win, and a loss will do, too, if either Empoli or Lecce are defeated.

There’s also the unlikely scenario of a four-way tie at 34 points, if Empoli and Lecce win, while Parma draws versus Atalanta. In that case, Lecce and Empoli are safe, while Verona and Parma will fight for survival in a tiebreaker game.
