Match for the 33rd round of Serie A, at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, home of AC Milan.
What We Know
- First Matchup: Atalanta - Milan 2-1
- Atalanta are unbeaten in their last four games against Milan.
- All four of these games saw BTTS.
- None of Atalanta’s last nine games in the league have featured BTTS, and six of them have seen Under 2.5 goals.
AC Milan
The back-three defensive formation is proving to be an improvement for Milan, and that was the case in the away clash at Udinese (0-4). This victory was overshadowed by goalkeeper Maignan’s serious injury, who had to be transported to the hospital.
The Rossoneri took care of business in a 3-minute span in the first half when Leao and Pavlovic scored. Hernandez and Reijnders scored two more goals in the second half to seal the victory.
Other results in the 32nd round were favourable to Milan, even though they remained in the 9th place. They managed to cut the distance between them and the European spots, following the lost points for their rivals Fiorentina, Bologna, Roma, and Lazio.
After the clash with Atalanta, Milan will be awaiting their second leg in the Coppa Italia semi-finals against Inter, coming on Wednesday (1-1 first leg), followed by visits to Venezia and Genoa in the Serie A.
Atalanta
It was a return to victories for Atalanta in a game where they performed up to their standards. They were able to settle the game against Bologna early on, scoring twice in 21 minutes, first with Retegui and then with Pasalic (3’ and 21’ respectively).
The important thing for the Bergamaschi is that they remained in the 3rd position, growing their lead from the 5th spot to 4 points. Another advantage is that their schedule is relatively manageable from now on, with the hardest clashes (at least judging by the opponents’ names) being those at Milan this week, and the 36th round at home against Roma.
The biggest story in Bergamo is, of course, what the day after the likely departure of legendary manager Gasperini will look like. We must not forget, of course, that it was under Gasperini’s leadership that Atalanta took several steps forward as a club, culminating in the European triumph in 2024, in the Europa League final in Dublin against Bayer Leverkusen (2-0 victory).
In other news, defender Kolasinac is out for the season with a serious injury, expected to be out for six months.
Betting Tip: Milan - Atalanta
Both teams are very capable offensively, and they possess the necessary quality to threaten their opponents’ goals. It is worth noting that Atalanta have nine games without BTTS behind them, a streak that is bound to end. On the other hand, most of Milan’s past matches were BTTS, if we disregard the 4-0 win against Udinese.
We are going for BTTS & Over 2,5 Goals combo.
- Betting Tip: BTTS and Over 2,5 Goals
- Odds: 1.85 (at the time of writing)
- Stake: 4
