Vampire Senpai is another great release from Quickspin with 5 reels and 40 paylines, however, you would think this slot operates on the grid payout/gameplay since it has a 5 x 5 grid reel set. This slot seems of high variance, and the graphic is superb as well as the soundtrack.
The theme is based on Chinese history with some sort of sensei and other trainers. Set in the backdrop of a Chinese temple, like where one would go and meditate a bit. Symbols on the reels include the royals and other vampire/trainers as the high paying symbols.
On the reels, you will find some sort of a vampire wild symbol that transforms the other characters into wilds whenever they land on adjacent spaces on the reels and they continue until no more of the other vampires are on the reels.
During any base game spin, you will also see the reels fade away and a special feature kicks in where you can land between 3 – 9 wilds random on the reels for extra chances to win. The wilds act in play just for that specific spin.
The clock bonus symbol act as a scatter and landing 3 or more activates the free spins feature. You are awarded 8 spins for 3 scatters and extra spins for every extra scatter. During free spins when the blue wild Sensei symbol lands on the reels it turns the reel into wild and other vampires into wilds as well. Each blue vampire wild symbol also awards an extra free spin.
The wilds stay sticky for the duration of the free spins feature and the paytable has a slight change and 5 wilds pay double the amount than what the base game offers.
I had some bad runs and some good runs on this slot, once I saw an expected 300x win. I must admit triggering the free spins feature can take very long, but the 2 scatters trolling in is easy, landing the 3rd is hard. This game is of high variance, average bonus pays x20 – 40x.
The cat curiosity in me never fails me whenever I come across a foreign word that I don’t know or understand. So what does senpai mean? Maybe it doesn’t matter to you, but it certainly does to me. After Googling the word, it says senpai, or sempai, refers to someone whose attention you want to get, or someone you want to be friends with. What? Grab his attention and become a friend with a vampire? No thank you! Hahaha.
Okay, so this vampire offers 5 reels 5 rows and 40 lines for its game play. It looks like any other Megaways game, having lots of tiny symbols on the reels, but it pays only on 40 winning lines and not on thousands of lines. The good thing is, to me that is, it only requires a minimum starting bet of $0.10 per spin, so that suits my small wallet and budget. If it plays on $0.20 bet per spin, next please! Hehehe. The symbols win values aren’t that good either. Getting 5 Wilds would pay only 20x the stake amount, or 40x during the free spins, but the other regular symbols pay from 10x down to 1x. Not interesting at all!
Whenever that Vampire Wild symbol appears on the reels, it transforms all adjacent human symbols into Wild symbols, so it is possible to get 4 transformed Wilds on a winning line. During free spins play, this Vampire Wild becomes rabbit-like and hops around the reels randomly, creating more new Wilds onto the reels. Sadly though, none of the Wild symbols carry any win multiplier, so there can be no boosting up of wins. In fact, there aren’t any win multipliers at all in this game, and that really sucks!
But wait a minute, there’s more! Getting 3 Bonus symbols don’t pay anything either, but they award 7 free spins which cannot be retriggered or more free spins added. The vampire is sucking you one more time! Hold on, there’s more! In the base game, each and every payout that I have encountered were simply horribly low! I couldn’t even get one simple 15x win, even with that vampire doing its symbols transformation thing. During the free spins, the Vampire Wilds tend to hop onto useless positions on the reels, hardly creating any decent win at all. The best win that I had gotten was only 96x, so this is indeed one blood-thirsty vampire that wants to be your friend, hahaha.
