I am not a football fan and I'm not in favour of any football-themed games either. There was a time when I quite liked a few football games from Playtech, but after frequent losses on them, I finally turned them away, not disliking them but just avoiding playing them. One look at this Microgaming version and I was already going "oh my god!" But like it or not, I had to play it at least once, to get some reliable real play info on it, rather than just mere fun play info, which wouldn't reflect the true picture of the game anyway.
The logo 'Shoot!' is the Wild symbol, 5 of which pays 150x the total bet amount. It substitutes for other symbols but not the Scatter symbol, but is a dumb Wild symbol because it doesn't do anything else. There are no Scatter symbols, only the Bonus symbols, 5 of which pays 200x the total bet amount. Getting 3 or more of these Bonus symbols trigger the Shoot! Bonus game. As for the symbols, Pele pays 50x, Best pays 30x, Maradona pays 20x, Cruyff pays 16x, Beckenbauer pays 10x, Keegan pays 5x, and the others pay 2x to 1.6x, all per total bet for 5 of each kind. A low paytable.
In the Shoot! Bonus game, pick 4 out of 12 cards to win cash prizes, a Free Spins game, or a Magazine Bonus game. The Free Spins game award 10 - 35 free spins with all wins doubled, whilst the Magazine Bonus game awards cash prizes by picking cards. Getting a 'Red Card' symbol ends the picking. If any picks are still available, the game would return back to the Shoot! Bonus game for the remainder of the picks. Both the Free Spins and the Magazine Bonus games can be won within the Shoot! Bonus game. The maximum possible win is indicated as $61, 900.00 at maximum bet size, or 619x the total bet amount. Not really a lot to go shouting about.
Typically of Microgaming games for me, Shoot! also started off very badly. I had to wait over 460 spins just to get the first Free Spins game. It had eaten about 70% of my credits before coming, and how much did it pay back? A blardy 24x my bet amount! What the argh! If that's not bad enough, the second Free Spins game took another 337 spins, for a 22x bet payout, and the third one at over 120 spins for another blardy low 14x payout. In one of the Magazine Bonus game, I got the 'Red Card' on my first pick. Sheesh! My deposit went bust without ever seeing it climbing up. It was down and down and down all the way. A totally disappointing game for me!
