Sakura Fortune II looks just as stunning as the first and there are some improvements that may be subtle yet, looking at the things overall, the game had a really good overhaul that can go unnoticed by someone who is not a true fan. The number of pay lines has increased significantly, the locking Wilds gained another reel and the max win potential has grown to x19664 the bet.
Sakura Fortune 2 is a sequel slot for QuickSpins' one of the most popular slots- Sakura Fortune. The original slot has been around for many years and the sequel came out earlier this year. It's no secret that sequel slots have been a trend for game providers, so it was about time Sakura Fortune had one as well. Initially I had quite mixed feelings about this release simply because sequel slots are quite tricky- either they are better than the original one or worse and I quite liked Sakura Fortune. But I was interested to see what the new game would have to offer.
In terms of game design and mechanics, the game keeps the original slot elements- there are 20 paylines, the characters are kept the same, with the Sakura lady being a wild that can nudge down when landing on the reels. In the base game, the wilds can land only on middle reels and when they do, they can nudge and give you a free respin. I like this feature but in the Sakura Fortune 2 I haven't had many big wins from it, just a few smaller 30x-50x bet wins at best.
Other than that, the game offers a free spins bonus round. To trigger it, you need to land scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4. Then the other 2 reels will respin for a potential to land additional scatters. What's new in this game is that you get either 9, 10 or 11 free spins, depending on how many scatters you've landed. Also, if you land 4 scatters, you will get one guaranteed wild while 5 scatters give you 2 guaranteed wilds. All 3 free spins options can also be purchased.Â
The free spins themselves work as they did in the original game- if you land a wild, it will nudge and give you one additional free spin. I've had the regular, 3 scatter free spins multiple times and also have bought the 5 scatter bonus twice. I have to say, I was quite disappointed. I had 2 wilds for the entire feature but they were on reels 3 and 4- therefore, not guaranteeing a winning combination. I ended up with a 250x bet win which was a loss because the bonus buy is expensive. And in general, the payouts seem quite low so to get big wins, you need all 3 wilds and premium symbol winning combinations.
All in all, it's a decent sequel and I think having a bonus buy, especially the 4 scatter and 5 scatter, are nice options to have, as I think to land them organically could take ages. But as for payouts, they are quite low and aside from my 250x win from a bonus buy, I haven't had a single significant win. So if I have to compare, I would go with the original slot instead of the sequel.
