VR in Gambling

Recommended Posts

Hi, forum members. A few days ago I read an article about the creation of the first VR casino. It will be a hub where you play on slots and roulette. After that, I wondered, do we need such casinos? Now on the market there are a lot of Live Casino with live dealers. It is not clear why we need such casinos.

For sure it wouldn't work out for poker because the first thing I would do is get chips and throw it at someone else face xD.
For casino I don't know would it even be possible lol and you even said we have live dealer casinos but still wouldn't it be better to move your bare hands and bet.

The so called ''VR revolution in gaming'' which so many predicted never came anyway. Sincerely doubt it will be a huge success (at this time and with this technology level) in online casino bizz.

Completely agree. From the offset this was never really going to progress much further was it.

They may have tried, but certainly did not conquer.

ValDes, have you had a blast on any of the modern VR systems? PSVR, Oculus, Vive? Or especially any of the ones currently being offered in specialist arcades? The experience is truly ten levels above what was around back in the 90s and I really believe it's the high barrier to entry that is preventing it taking off in a huge way at the moment. The latest version of the Oculus that doesn't require any of the peripheral hardware to be located around the room, instead keeping all the technology simply in the headset and controllers, is another huge leap forward.

It's really not long before you can pop that headset on and find yourself inside a Las Vegas casino full of showgirls... and I know that's going to attract... umm someone ?

Hehe, it surely will, mate, it surely will! I for one, would gladly enjoy the show of the showgirls while gently pressing the Spin button in some VR powered Las Vegas casino. :)

Had some experience with Oculus, friend of mine is avid fan of playing games with VR so we used to gather once in a month and use his 'equipment'. Must admit the feeling is insane but cannot help the terrible headache which would appear in only 30 mins... ?

The headaches are a result of the low refresh rate on current generation equipment... everyone has different levels of susceptibility to those effects, but there is undoubtedly an obvious correlation between the specifications (and therefore price!) of the hardware and the level of negative side effects reported. Once we get to 4k @ 144hz in each eye I believe most people should be comfortable with extended play sessions, but at the moment there isn't any hardware capable of achieving these kinds of specs in anything but the most basic games. It may yet turn out that truly *insane* refresh rates are needed in order to fool the human eye completely.

I've yet to try it personally but apparently the new Valve Index runs 144hz and is being touted as the killer step forward we've all been waiting for... but then they said that about the PSVR and its low launch price so again - only time will tell. I'm gonna be real disappointed if you are right though and full immersion VR never actually becomes a thing - as will everyone with shares in pornhub, i suspect ;)
