Betfair and Pokersatrs under DDoS attack last weekend

Recommended Posts

"Customer of Betfair and PokerStars have been left enraged after the software of both gambling giants suffered from major connectivity issues over the weekend.

Betfair’s sportsbook, betting exchange and websites were unavailable for more of April 13 after the firm’s servers came under attack from a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack. Betfair’s customer service team, manning the @BetfairHelpDesk Twitter account, confirmed to customers that a DDoS attack was the cause of the problems and reassured worried punters that their details and funds were safe." Yes, I also noticed it and their twitter also says they're stable now but still monitoring any further malicious activity.

What is happening? Lately there have been so many hacker attacks, it starts to get scary.

... Or maybe it is about time for online casinos to start investing more in their IT infrastructure and security in general!

I know that many online brands are really doing their best and strive to implement all the latest IT security technologies into their own websites, however what I know for sure looking at all these hundreds of outdated casino websites is that most of them do not care and bother too much when it comes to investments into IT... :(

Yes, it's true. I think it is good to be updated with this trend because some issue I worry about is personal info security, this is a DDoS attack, but later it could be another kind of attack with database targeted.

This is the main reason why exchange providers are investing a lot on network security but those hackers still won't give up and continue to find a way. 1.gif

Exactly :) Both sides are always prepared, the question is only who will of them be a step ahead first.

Sorry my dear, but must say you are totally wrong with this one. If there's someone who is always a step ahead in the field of IT security then it must be the hackers. What the other side is doing is to try catch up on them. ;)

I agree with this, websites are always at defense. Once it arises a new kind of attack it creates a reaction  and a new kind of defense is born. Hackers are always one step ahead.
