Account closed and money wrongfully confiscated with zero justification

I signed up to unibet on 18/03/2017, and proceeded to deposit £100, i accepted there casino welcome bonus of a 200% deposit match and played on the slot game big bad wolf, after i played through the wagering requirements, i placed a withdrawal for £2119.50, when the withdrawal didn't go through i checked to see if they wanted any verification documents from me, the website said that they didn't need anything from me, so i contacted live chat they told me that they was doing some internal security checks, the day after i received a request for verification documents, to which i sent what was available to me, and they asked for more documents, so i sent them more, they then sent me an email me on 6/6/2017 quoting the following " In regards to your account, it was again reviewed by the accounts team, but at this time we cannot reopen it for you at all. As per the terms and conditions on the website, 3.2

a. decline to open a Unibet Account and/or to close an existing Unibet Account without any explanation whatsoever;"

i have now today sent them another email with all the documents necessary to verify my account once again, consisting of, my drivers license, my drivers license next to my face, a picture of the front and back of my signed bank card used to deposit, and a picture of a bank statement i acquired from my natwest bank account dated recently.

i later today received the following email,

Dear Joseph,


Thank you for contacting Unibet support!

In regards to your account I can confirm it had been reviewed by the relevant department who confirmed it cannot be reopened.

You were informed on the 6/6/17 by another agent that the account is closed and the funds are to remain frozen. Unfortunately I cannot add anything further to this.

As per our terms and conditions on the website - 3.2 (a)
-
a. decline to open a Unibet Account and/or to close an existing Unibet Account without any explanation whatsoever;

That is the final decision based on their behalf and we cannot put forward another request to reopen the account.

they have literally stole the money i have won, despite the fact that i have played with-in the terms and conditions and sent them everything as required by the UK gambling commission to satisfy regulations with regards to KYC verification checks, and they have not gave me a single reason as to why they have "frozen" aka stole the funds in my account, they only quoted a reason that they are allowed to close my account and this does not give them the right to confiscate the money in the account at the time of closing.

could you please assist me in claiming the money which is rightfully mine, thanks.

and furthermore to what i have mentioned above, if the case is as quoted from above

"Your identification documents have failed our verification checks and so your bonus funds have been confiscated and your account closed, as per our T&Cs."

why is it that in my Subject access request you have removed my funds and refer to the following line from the transaction history sections "joetew3 31-May-17 2019.5 GBP Premium Fraud Recovery Withdraw Premium 100 GBP Bonus Abuse Recovery" in which it clearly states on the 31st of may 2017, bearing in mind i requested on the 18th of march 2017, you have removed £2019.50 from my account for "bonus abuse recovery" and yet there is no evidence at all to back up such claims in the subject access request nor any correspondence we've had, and you will not have any evidence either as i haven't ever done anything wrong for such evidence to exist, so you are clearly lying and hiding behind your previous excuse of failed verification checks.

you mean to tell me that, a picture of my drivers license, a picture of my drivers license next to my face, a picture of my natwest bank statement recently dated and a picture of both the front and back of the signed bank card have failed your verification checks? which is everything required for verification checks and you know it, what one earth more could you possibly need? you do not have the right to go above the law and confiscate my funds, as i given you everything that's required, if you need more documented evidence, just ask me for more documents. Don't just say, well he's given us what we asked for, but we want to steal his money so we'll just say he hasn't given and take it.

Account with 11k GBP frozen for 3 weeks for verification purposes

My account with a balance of more than 11,050 GBP has been closed and Unibet is refusing to process the withdrawal and return my funds whilst the account is being verified. ID documents were uploaded when the account was opened so i am surprised they have decided to suspend my account and block my withdrawal/return my funds.

I've asked for the funds to be returned to the card used for the deposit and also highlighted that customer verification/source of income checks stated in their policy are required if the customer wishes to increase their deposit limit and does not impact the withdrawal request - which they have ignored and continued to reference that there isn't more to be done until the account is verified by the relevant team

15th February - they reached out and requested proof of ID, to which I provided the same day. However, since then, they have not updated me on the verification process.

I have chased it on a daily basis as it's a large sum of money, but all I've been told there is still no update and it's still with the Safer Gambling or Verification team. I asked if they could provide a timeline, but on each and every return mail, they advised me to be patient and will provide an update as soon as they hear from the verification team.

I've asked if there is a contact for the verification team - but apparently, it's non customer facing so the suggestion has been to wait.

What is concerning is that having researched further on Unibet, this is common practice whereby they would lock out customer accounts and delay/refuse to return customers' funds.

Some affected customers have waited for months without an update - see its very own Unibet community space

It’s now more than 3 weeks, my 11k is still with them and there is no update

Failing to verify my account in any sort of reasonable timeframe
Dear AskGamblers,

I would like to raise a complaint regarding Unibet’s persistent incompetence and refusal to verify my account, despite perfectly valid and relevant documents being provided upon their request. I will lay out a full sequence of the facts, and explain why Unibet are failing in their duties to verify my account.

Sept 26th, signed up to Unibet and deposited $500
October 4th, after winning a sports bet, withdrew $2,000
October 5th, Uploaded all necessary documents, and ID selfie as requested.
October 17th, Account still wasn’t verified, so emailed Unibet asking for update to [email protected]. Received no response.
October 23rd, I went onto live chat and asked about my withdrawal. Unibet then said I need to send in a paper proof of address, as a digital PDF of my bank statement, despite being originally asked for, is apparently no longer sufficient. I upload a paper bank statement., aswell as ID selfies (screenshot attached)
October 24th, Still hadn’t received my money so emailed [email protected] again
October 25th, Unibet respond to me to say to ‘please allow some time for our verification team to go through your submitted documents (Screenshot attached). This is one month now following registration, and 3 weeks after uploading documents
October 26th, Emailed Karolina from Unibet asking for an update. No reply.
October 27, Emailed Karolina again asking for an update. No reply.
October 27th, Paris from Unibet emailed me to say my documents are in review and takes 1-5 business days. It’s been almost 4 weeks, and 4 days since I uploaded the paper bank statement and second set of ID selfie photos.
October 28th, Paris emailed me again to say that the paper proof of address was out of date, which it was, and to send another. She also asked me to send in ID selfie again “Also the verification team has requested the new , crystal clear set of pictures of ID and iD held next to face ( all details must be clearly visible ) “
I had already sent in 2 sets of ID selfie photos, and they were both perfectly fine.
November 1st, I sent in updated paper bank statement as requested, along with perfectly fine ID selfie photos (attached to this complaint).
November 1st, Chased up Unibet via email, and was told that document verification is in a queue.
November 4th, was informed by email that my Unibet account is frozen
November 4th, Unibet emailed me again to say the documents are in queue. They take longer than the quoted 1-5 business days, every single time. Also, they didn’t explain why the 2 previous sets of ID selfies were refused.
November 6th, I emailed Unibet asking for an update as it’s been 1.5 months now since my withdrawal request. Emailed ignored.
November 7th, Emailed Unibet asking for an update again.
November 8th, Luke from Unibet emails me to say “Upon checking your account we can see that the documents you sent over have been rejecting. Reasons are as follows; the Proof of Identity held next to face was rejected because the quality was too low and is unreadable.
The Proof of address sent by Post was rejected as documents is expire / older than 3 months. “
Luke is looking at my email sent on October 23rd, not the updated one sent on November 1st. He is getting confused because there are so many emails now, but since I have requested numerous updates due to this being so slow, he’s missed my last email on November 1st. My bank statement is dated Sept 23rd, 2022, so it’s not over 3 months old, and the ID selfies (3rd set uploaded) are perfectly clear and legible.

Unibet have now categorically proven themselves to be unfit to verify my account, and unfit to respond to emails in a timely manner. They have also proven themselves to be unfit to examine the correct email, and are completely incompetent at verifying my account. All documents have been provided.

I would like you to examine the facts and ask Unibet to pay out my winnings, so that I can close my account with them and never play on their site again.

Delayed withdrawal

Hello

I have a complaint regarding waiting times on a withdrawal from Unibet Casino.

I have been a player on this site for quite some time and have used considerable funds (in an estimate around 15 000 eur) on this casino, since I have always liked the casinos games and layout.

I made a withdrawal on 19.10.2022, and after the withdrawal I had to verify myself for the withdrawal to be processed.

I started sending in documents the same day and a ID and got accepted the same day. The other documents (Credit card and payment verification) got accepted the following day 20.10.2022. I got an email sying that the proof for "where the money comes from" was not sufficient regards that I've played with more than my common income in the timeframe of the time I played the most. I then had to send additional document that showed my loan I had made to gather all my outstanding mastercards loans that I've used while gambling. I sent the document and it got verified 21.10.2022. Therefore all my documentas are now verified and payout shoulde have been processed accordingly to the casinos "Terms and condtitions".

I did not use any bonus offers in the timeline of my winnings. Played solely with clean cash.

I have used considerable amounts on this casino (about 15 000 eur), and my withdrawal is on 50 071 nok, about 5000 eur.

In the days after 21.10.2022 I've been in contact with support several times on live chat and email about the issue, but I have never gotten any responce other than "The appropriate department" will be contacting me shortly for responce or that the payment is soon to be verified.

Therefore I feel now that the issue is on a standstill, since i have never gotten any responce after the final verification that Unibet still needs documentation to verify my account for further delibiration. And that is why I now feel I need to take it up as an formal complaint.

If Unibet still need me to send any documents regarding the proof of identity or where the money comes from I will be more than happy to clear out any misunderstandings Unibet may have. In the other hand, after the 21.10.2022 I have not gotten any contact from Unibet stating that anything is missing regards to the verification prosess.

Only that the withdraw itself has taken a long time. On the withdraw itself it says "Your withdrawal is being reviewed. Controll your verification section on your account after any referals to verification documents" And this has been the same on the withdrawal before I had my verification documents accepted. Therefore I believe that the withdrawal has been put aside from the Unibet team and maybe it has been forgotten. Only speculation from my part, but I hope that is the case, becouse if not I have been completely ignored.

I hope that Unibet can now look at my withdrawal and give me an answer on why this has taken so long (13 days form the last verified document).

I have attached the files that ive sent for verification of account, and the emails that has been sent.

They are mainly on norwegian, but if I need to translate I can help with that.

Payment taking too long

Hey! I requested withdrawal from unibet on 16.8.2022 after that immediately they wanted documents of neteller verification and screenshot of some deposit I made to them through my bank. That's got approved at the same night on 16.8 then I waited for 2 days until 18.8 I got form to fill asking source of income which was also approved immediately. 

Then I had to wait almost 2 weeks until 30.8 they asked for my source of wealth, the's were approved next day 31.8 as I sended them also immediately 30.8.

After that for a week nothing happened until 6.9 they decided to reject my source of wealth which they had earlier approved and asked for more documents. I sended also immediately documents which they were asking and waited another week until yesterday I got info trough vip manager that they need a little bit more documents. We'll I sended everything they asked and my source of wealth verification was approved yesterday 13.9 2 weeks after this specific verification started and 4 weeks after my withdraw request. 

Now it has been 4 weeks and 1 day since withdraw request and unibet hasn't still approved my withdrawals.

Do you even realize how long I have been waiting, specially when I have sended everything you asked for in a less than 30 minutes. Still you don't rush anywhere and make me wait always for a week until something happens. Do you even appreciate your customers if they get same service as I have got. 

Seems like only finnish vip manager and other finnish people has been only site there but there isn't much they can do as your relevant team seems to be so high above anybody else there. 

Could just approve my withdrawals please!
