Skull Duggery is a pirate-themed 9-payline video slot running on the Microgaming software platform. The scatter symbol is the Skull, the Bonus symbol is the Booty Bonus card and the wild symbol is the Skull Duggery Logo. Players are welcome to try the slot on this page for free or visit any of the listed Microgaming casinos to play the game for real money.
Prior to sailing off on a ship with their very own pirate crew, players should adjust their bet first. “Select Coins” modifies the number of coins wagered, while “Select Lines” alters the number of activated paylines. Clicking the +/- buttons alters the coin size, ranging from 0.01 to 1. “Spin” spins the reels, “Bet Max” turns them at a maximum bet and “Autoplay”, which is in the Expert mode, plays the game multiple times without interruption.
The Booty Bonus game starts when 3 or more Bonus symbols emerge on the reels. Players choose from 5 pirates, deciding which one of them has stolen the Captain’s treasure. The chosen pirate walks the plank and, as they jump into the water, a bonus amount is awarded.

Pirate games have always attracted me. There's plenty of these games around, from Pirates this to Pirates that, and with some games with titles that don't even use the word 'pirate' at all, like this Skull Duggery game, but it's easy to guess that it's related. The word 'skull' gives it away, like the skull symbol in a pirate's flag. The 'duggery' bit is about one of the Pirates' crew members stealing valuables from the boss, more like digging his own grave if caught out doing it. Well, can you do it? I mean, catch the thief that stole the goods. Hmm, don't know about you, but I had a tough time finding the right culprit. In fact, I never did.
The logo is the Wild symbol, paying a marvellous 12,000x the line bet for 5 of them. It substitutes for only the food symbols and triples all wins with it. Nice, even though the Wild symbol doesn't become stacked or expanded. The Thief is the Bonus Scatter symbol, it doesn't pay anything for itself in the base game, but getting 3 or more of these Bonus symbols on any active payline triggers the Booty Bonus game. Pick one of the 5 crew members you suspect could be the thief. Win cash prizes of 40x up to 3000x the line bet. The Skull is the Scatter symbol, 5 of which pays 200x the total bet amount, but getting 3 or more of these Scatters do not trigger any free spins. There aren't any Free Spins game, which is a big shame. The other symbols pay from 750x to 50x the line bet for 5 of each kind. Quite a good paytable for a 9-paylines game.
Typically of all 9-paylines games, getting a good payout can come quite easily, if you're lucky, or damn hard, if you're like me, unlucky. No Free Spins game also reduces the excitement in the game, only relying on the Booty Bonus game to bring out some adrenaline rushes. Did you get any of it? Sadly, I didn't. The few bonus games that I got all paid rather poorly, giving me payouts of 4x to 16x my bet amount, which were totally disappointing for me. The crew member that I picked were all incorrect, not the thief, so I couldn't get any good win out of the feature game. Picking one crew out of 5 may be a bit hard, with only a small chance of getting it right.
Skull Duggery has nice graphics, but lacks the punch of having a Free Spins game. Some may not mind this, but many others may certainly do mind, including myself, thus reducing its excitement and winning potentials.
