Last week's news that Gamesys had changed agencies for its Jackpot Joy advertising has been followed by reports in several UK marketing publications that Gala Coral is about to make some media planning and buying changes too.
The reports suggest that an advertising budget of some GBP 8 million may be involved in the land and online gambling group's new approach, which involves a three way pitch between existing agency MediaVest, ZenithOptimedia and an as yet unknown third agency. The reports suggest that the gambling group is reviewing its full marketing strategies.
MediaVest has handled the offline media planning and buying business for the Coral high-street bookmaker and its accompanying online business for Coral, Eurobet online and Telebet business, since August 2006.
Gala Coral, which operates approximately 1,600 UK betting shops, 157 bingo clubs and 28 casinos, recently appointed chief operating officer Dominic Harrison to the position of chief executive.
