Ladbrokes opens new Casino in Paddington

The Ladbrokes Casino and Sports Bar at the London Paddington Hilton is set to open next week following a £5 million development that will create 150 jobs in the Paddington Waterside regeneration area.

Ladbrokes plc Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bell said: The Ladbrokes Casino and Sports Bar is superbly located in close proximity to the Heathrow Express in a part of London that is undergoing significant redevelopment. This investment also ensures that Ladbrokes is operationally ready to bid for one or more of the new casino licences under the 2005 Gambling Act, should we decide the final locations represent a sound investment.

The casino is a joint-venture between Ladbrokes and Alan Goodenough, former Chairman of LCI, and his associate David Seton.

Licensed under the 1968 Gaming Act, the casino is located within the Paddington Waterside Regeneration area.

The casino will offer three distinct zones to appeal to different audiences:

The Sports Bar offers live sports coverage of sport and sports news from Sky Sports, SIS and Ladbrokes Xtra.
A Las Vegas style slot zone will offer 12 roulette terminals linked to a live wheel and 18 terminals linked to an automatic wheel. There will be 20 slot machines with payouts of up to £4,000 and 11 slot machines with payouts up to £500.
The gaming floor offers a range of casino games including roulette, blackjack, 3-card poker and punto banco.
In addition an 80-cover restaurant with a glass-fronted wine cellar will offer a varied menu of Asian, Thai and European cuisine. Membership is free and available immediately upon production of photographic ID.

Alan Goodenough said: Weve delivered the casino on time and on budget and believe we have created a casino which enables people to enjoy playing the tables in modern, stylish surroundings, as well as enjoy the latest live sporting action.

Kay Buxton of the Paddington Waterside Partnership the local regeneration body commented: This investment is a further vote of confidence in the potential of Paddington. Were delighted that 150 jobs are being created in the area and we wish the venture every success.
