Forest of Wonders reminds me of the story Alice in Wonderland. The characters in this game are similar, with a rabbit, a rat (maybe), and some other creatures I'm not even sure what they are, and including that midget of a man. Maybe this game was inspired by that Alice Story after all, but who cares, right? Forest of Wonders is a very old game indeed. I first played it, ooh, probably about 16 years ago or so, in a land-based mini arcade, even before I started paying online. Yep, I grew up with Playtech and all its oldies game! Hahaha.

Forest of Wonders was never a hit with me, nor with any of my friends. A look at the paytable and you can imagine why. The Wild symbol, that big Rat, or whatever, pays 5000x the line bet for 5 of them, it doesn't double any wins, doesn't expand, doesn't do anything else but to substitute for other symbols, so it's a dumb Wild, hehehe. The Rabbit is the Scatter symbol, it doesn't pay anything for itself either, dumb rabbit, but 3 or more of them award the Free Spins game. The number of free spins is determined by picking one of the Rabbits, to award 5, 10, 15, 25 or 50 free spins, but without any win multiplier. Aargh! Told you the paytable is not good!

Another available feature in this game is the Forest of Wonders Bonus game, activated by 3 or more Mushroom Bonus symbols in succession, on any active payline, left-to-right or right-to-left. Appearing anywhere on the reels won't do. In this Forest of Wonders Bonus game, you get to pick out 5 mushrooms to win cash prizes. If you don't like what you have won in the first round, you have 2 more chances at it, the 3rd round being the final one. This is the trickiest part of the whole game, because it is pretty hard to judge which round would pay the highest amount of win. At times, it would be the first round, at times, it would be any of the other two rounds. Occasionally, you may win the maximum win possible of 200x or 300x the total bet from 1 of the picks, but I can't remember exactly now. All I can remember is getting $300 from one of the picks, and that was the maximum win possible for the bet that I played on. Overall, this Bonus round usually pays around 40x or more the total bet, which is usually better than the Free Spins game itself!

Why? Simply because there's no win multiplier in the free spins game, and the number of free spins depends on picking the right Rabbit. It can be just 5 to 15 lousy free spins if 3 Rabbits had triggered the Free Spins game, and up to 50 free spins if by triggered 5 Rabbits. More free spins can be retriggered with 3 or more Rabbits appearing anywhere on the reels, again determined by picking out one Rabbit. Generally, the Free Spins game isn't productive enough, nor exciting enough, most of the time!

This is one of Playtech unpopular oldie games, which couldn't excite nor pay much of any good wins. The paytable is extremely low, with the symbols paying from 200x down to 50x the line bet, and without any Scatter payouts too. For short fun and entertainment, Forest of Wonders should be okay. For serious playing, no way!
