Privacy and Cookie Policy Changes Due to GDPR

We Have Updated Our Privacy and Cookie Policy and Here's Why

This just in: due to major changes brought on by the EU General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short, we have just updated our Privacy and Cookie Policies, as well. If these words mean little to you, don’t worry – we’re here to clarify them to you and explain just which changes have been made and why this is important.

What Is GDPR Anyway?

First things first; let’s talk about GDPR in general for a bit before moving onto the specifics. The purpose of the EU General Data Protection Regulation is to coordinate data privacy laws across Europe and protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches

While GPDR was approved by the EU Parliament on the 14th of April, 2016, it will finally be enforced on the 25th of May, 2018 at which time organizations that fail to comply with the GPDR may face significant fines.

Changes That Concern You Explained

Okay, but how does this affect you, the user? While there are several key changes brought about with GDPR (and you are advised to read up on each on GDPR’s official website), here’s a rundown of the most important changes that concern you:

  • Consent; namely, GDPR states that consent must be clear, discernible from other matters and provided in an easily accessible form. The language should also be plain and effortlessly understood. Additionally, withdrawing your consent should be just as easy as to give it.
  • Right to Access, or the right for subjects to obtain confirmation regarding whether or not personal data concerning them is being processed, where and to what end.
  • Right to be Forgotten, or the right that allows the data controller to have their personal data erased and potentially stop third parties from processing the data.

Consent Needed

So, where does this lead us? To updating our Privacy and Cookie Policy, like we said, and as such we will need your consent once more, should you wish to continue receiving deals, promos and latest info via our newsletter. Just make sure to check your inbox to see if the newsletter with updated policies has reached you!

Reminder: GDPR goes live on the 25th of May, so make sure you click ‘Agree’ before then or you’ll no longer be on our mailing list.

Don’t forget, though; GDPR goes live on the 25th of May, which means that if you don’t click ‘Agree’ on our new updated policies via the newsletter, you will no longer be on our mailing list for any further communication from us starting from 25/05/2018.

Finally, we invite you yet again to review our new and updated Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, familiarize yourself with your rights and obligations alike and we’ll see you around, same as always!
