One of the greatest software providers in the online gambling industry, Playtech, has hired a new strategic advisor with a remit focusing on gaming, mergers and acquisition, and sports betting. Their new advisor is Ian Chuter, the well-known veteran in the iGaming industry.
Ian Chuter to join Playtech
Everything seems to be settled and the former Betfair and William Hill group operations director Ian Chuter is to be the new strategic advisor in Playtech’s following areas of business: gaming, sports betting, and mergers and acquisitions. Both sides seem to be thrilled. However, this deal is going to be sealed on November 2nd, 2015, when Ian will officially join the ranks of Playtech.
Playtech is getting some reinforcement in the strategic development department!
“Ian is one of the best operators in the business. He has a proven track record of managing large-scale transformational projects and delivering great success everywhere he has worked”, Playtech chief operating officer Shimon Akad explained.
“We’re delighted he has chosen to join Playtech and I’m confident he will be an invaluable member of the senior management team as we continue to grow this incredible business”, he added.
Ian Chuter also commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining Playtech at such an exciting time. I know the management team very well from my days at William Hill and am really looking forward to working closely with them on a number of very exciting projects.”
Perhaps you have never heard about Ian Chuter, but this guy has gathered loads of experience over the years. To be precise, he has more than 25 years’ experience in the gambling sector. As if this is not enough, Ian Chuter has received 2 prestigious awards so far, both in 2010:
- Bookmaker of the Year in
- Retail Operator of the Year
Ian actually acquired his experience by working for both Betfair and William Hill group, as their operational director. Chuter has been working at Betfair for four and a half years, and while he was there, he’s been responsible for:
- Customers’ services
- Sports operations
As if that weren’t responsibility enough, Ian was also in charge of the management of the team that led Betfair to huge success during their biggest period of change.
Ian at William Hill
Before joining Betfair, this well-respected gambling industry expert spent almost a decade at William Hill where he changed many positions. At first Chuter dealt with overseeing the retail and online operations. However, later on he moved to gaming and sportsbook operations. Finally, in January 2009, Ian was promoted and he took over the reins of the company, as the company’s director for both UK’s and International arms of business.
At that point of his career, Chuter got to know Playtech very well. Back in 2008, William Hill Online was negotiating the joint venture with Playtech and Ian was one of the main links in the negotiation process. In the end the deal was acclaimed as the strategic main stroke that paved the way to one of the most successful deals in gaming history as it resulted in William Hill acquiring Playtech’s 29% stake for more than £400 million in March 2013.
Ian’s career beginnings
By now, you might be wondering where and how this successful iGaming veteran started out in the first place. Actually, Ian made his first steps in the gaming industry at Rank Group, where he worked as sales and marketing director.
In 1997, Chuter left Rank Group and joined high street gaming business Talarius. He worked here for 4 years. Then, in 2001, he received an offer from William Hill which he simply couldn’t refuse. Apparently, he has made a series of right decisions throughout his career.
This contract signing is probably going to give some great results at the mutual satisfaction of both Playtech and Ian Chuter. Keep an eye on this one, for great things seem to be coming our way.
