Nowadays, the financial system is constantly going through changes, even though the customers are not usually the ones to benefit. As of today, the well-known online payment options, Neteller and Skrill, will forbid the usage of prepaid MasterCards in more than 100 countries. As per some experts, this shift will likely lead to a bigger acceptance of Bitcoin technology. Read our story to find out more about this major financial change.
The Big Financial Change
As of today, November the 25th, Neteller and Skrill will no longer accept the usage of prepaid MasterCards in over 100 countries worldwide. The Paysafe Group controls both brands and has just informed its customers about the approaching change.
However, the change in policy will not affect the SEPA zone countries which include all 28 European Union member states, alongside Lichtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, and Switzerland.
“No More Prepaid MasterCards for Skrill and Neteller users.”
Prepaid MasterCards were popular among online gamblers who use either Neteller or Skrill to fund their casino online accounts. From now on, it will no longer be possible to withdraw from their gambling ewallets. However, Paysafe’s customers will still be able to withdraw funds to their bank account, and transfer funds to a different Skrill or Neteller account.
The change will also make impact on some of the world’s largest gambling nations, such as Australia and Brazil. So far, the new policy will not apply to North American users. On the other hand, customers from Russia and China can keep using their cards, but in case their cards expire, no new ones will be issued.
The Future Predictions
Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen in the future. Some experts say this will cause a new wave of Bitcoin adoption in the months to come. Others, however, feel it may not be the case. Only time will tell whether all these changes will benefit in favour of Bitcoin adoption.
“All these radical changes may only disappoint Neteller and Skrill customers.”
One thing is certain, Neteller and Skrill will push away some of their customers with all these radical changes. In case you still wish to spend or withdraw some of your remaining funds, make sure to do it in time, or else you will only be able to withdraw your money via bank transfer.
