The leading Nordic online casino and betting operator - Betsson Group – has announced they will withdraw all except one license from the UK gaming market. The group has decided to operate under the Rizk brand, starting 21 October. As a result, Betsson said the closing of the 8 UK-facing brands – Betsafe, Betsson, Casino Euro, Guts, Kaboo, Live Roulette, Jackpot247 and Racebets – would take effect immediately and the company will no longer accept deposits or bets on these sites.
Betsson Group Withdraws Eight Brands in the UK Effective Immediately
Betsson Group has made a decision to merge its gaming business in the United Kingdom under a single brand and a focus on the US sports betting market and Europe in general. As of 21 October, the iGaming company has decided to focus on the Rizk brand only, which they acquired after signing a €33 million deal with GiG, back in April.
Betsson Group management has decided to suspend 8 brands in the UK effective immediately.
Betsson Group’s plan is to close all 8 other brands that they currently run, feeling confident that the decision would help them increase productivity in the UK market and “have a positive impact on the contribution from its UK business. It will also enable resources to be reallocated for profitable growth in other markets.” However, it is a big decision for Betsson – one of the most successful casino brands - that have so far operated 9 brands under multiple different licenses in this particular market for so long.
Betsson said the closure of the eight brands would take effect immediately which means the company will no longer accept deposits or bets on these sites.
Betsson said the closure of the eight brands – Betsafe, Betsson, Casino Euro, Guts, Kaboo, Live Roulette, Jackpot247 and Racebets – would take effect immediately and the company will no longer accept deposits or bets on these sites. British customers have already been reassured that “the safety of their account balances and all outstanding bets will be paid out as winning bets.” On the other hand, Rizk has confirmed that any account balances and outstanding bets will be paid to players and winners accordingly.
Although these 8 brands will stop being active across the United Kingdom, they will still be in the intellectual property of Betsson Group and the company may use them in order to launch operations across other EU markets. As a matter of fact, Betsson has been energetically extending their businesses, as they have recently signed a deal with Yggdrasil Gaming.
