UKGC announced ban on gambling with credit cards

E wallets don’t bother me as rarely use PayPal with visa direct kicking off

Stopped using Skrill etc many moons ago, due to their fees and the fact I simply don’t trust them regarding their random security checks etc.

But again... some people do prefer them and I think it should be theirs and the casinos choice.

This is what happens with regulatory creep; you open the door and they all start piling in.

Folk celebrated FOBT caps... now they don’t like the fact the gamble feature for games like White Rabbit have gone etc and possible online capping.

Near impossible to put the genie back in the bottle.

Yep same, haven't used e-wallets to fund my account for about 3 years now so it really won't effect me. But there will be plenty of people who it does so it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Just saw the news on the website and agree it's pretty major. Not a UK resident but suspect that, like the passing of the UIGEA in the US that ultimately changed the entire online poker landscape, this could have a more profound effect than is immediately apparent.

read on another forum about a loophole;

"There are still loopholes, the main one being that you can use your credit card to buy a pre-paid debit card, then use that to deposit onto a gambling site."

Pre-paid debit card? Do they even exist in the UK? You can purchase pre-paid Mastercards but as far as I'm aware they can't be used for gambling transactions?

I thought this was already in place? I know BTG have removed the Buy Feature for theirs?

TBH if you're gonna do that then the 'progressive' ones like Holy Diver should be shelved as well

I didn't use it a lot - only game was White Rabbit where i used to buy a few quid bonus's before i withdrew: to be honest you'd have spent more getting the bonus!

It's not just BTG, so many providers implemented the buy-bonus feature over the last 18 months or so...

Curious how providers would solve the matter. Are they gonna remove the feature for their APIs meant for UK licensed casinos or simply cut it down for all partners regardless the license considering the fact that as of lately MGA is kinda 'copying' the drastic steps/actions adopted by UKGC.

Personally, don't really care that much as I rarely used the feature anyway, but always feels bad when being stripped off of additional opportunities.

Suppose regulators look to regulators....even if not, may providers will not want to put in anymore incase it gets the ban hammer...not sure how much effort it is in segregating the two versions across different countries but might just think '2 much hassle'

Most Blueprint's are unplayable without them - there's a new Netent with some insane bonus buy atm - Serengeto Kings?

All in anticipation of the real thrill stopper....2 quid max bet.

Though i'm not sure it'll happen - imagine casinos, if the UK is profitable, looking at legal action. Plus, Land based are 5 no?

Either way....they've got the thirst for it now that FOBT's have been curtailed.

Careful who you let into the Hen House.

What i don't get is that it's perfectly acceptable to play a game like Bonanza that can, and does, go 2000 spins without a bonus but buying one is somehow encouraging chasing? If anyone at the UKGC has played a game they'll know once your're at 500 without a bonus the chances are you're carrying on.

The issue with all these changes is not hidden in the details, it is that because of problem gamblers who are the minority, all other common, non-problematic players who are the majority in my opinion, should suffer all these endless restrictions, limitations, experiments and whatnot... IMHO, Not Fair! 😡

If I'm wrong and the truth is that the majority of UK players are in fact problematic players, well then, why not abandoning all these halfway steps and take a single, draconian one by banning gambling once and for all and put an end to all that misery for good! Pretty sure the nation will embrace  such ban with open arms as there's countless families out there facing and fighting the battle with problem gambling issues and consequences.

Out of 'political correctness' will stop here... Not that I don't have a thousand more things to say about it... 😛

That is true and buying a bonus between x50 - 100x your stake for Blue Print, is actually not that bad, however I feel like I can never trigger a bonus feature on most of Blue Prints slots with normal spinning, especially their Megaways collection. BTG bonus buys were simply not worth it at all for me at least.

Netent really ask 324x for a 5 scatter bonus buy, however I can see the value of the slot in some way, because you at least get minimum 30% of your money back, I have tested it, only on the 5 scatter one, as you already have enough Lions and Panthers for a few 5 of kinds top symbol.
