I have registered with gamstop and I am also talking to gamcare and I am seeking medical help for depression

It has really impacted on my life in every way

Did you get a chance to watch the gambling documentary Ka Ching Pokie Slot documentary. Hope you get around to it it explains a lot how they get players hooked, it's an addiction by design. They can addict players to losing as well as winning and they lie to players such as with the sounds of a loss disguised as a win when you bet 5quid and get a return of 2quid, you lost 3, but the slot will make the same sound as when you profit on the spin. Now what should be mandated is that if a slot spin results in a net loss then sound differentiating a loss from a win. Such as make it play the losing answer sound on gameshows such as family feud or price is right losing horn. This would have an actual impact on gameplay. Players would not like hearing this sound over and over , including on dead spins, so they would either have to turn off the sound entirely which makes the slot alot more boring and thus reducing game time as player will quit. The slot providers will whine and argue that they are losing customers but that's too bad when your business is on using psychological tricks to hook players and sheer the sheep.

You got depressed cause of the slot losses or were you trying to escape issues in life by getting into the slots zone?

When you were spinning the slots max spinning 200quid spin were you in a zombie state or were you desperate to get a big win to recoup the losses. But you knew that even with a big win it wouldn't let you leave the slot addiction as you would put all the money back in. People have won 50K, 100K, 1mil+ only to pump it back into slots. There was a case of some lad that won about 100k or 200K on the lottery raffles and then put it all into slots on a daily basis till it was all gone.

I have been depressed for a while work stress and problems at home but it has got significantly worse I've hit rock bottom and told my wife what's been going on and she is helping me deal with it and helped me gamstop and self exclude on the site

Im not sure what I was doing I played for fun it didn't bother me when I lost stupidly and when I did win I put it back in I lost count on my deposits and they got bigger and bigger untill I spent money that wasn't my own ect I literally had no control couldn't stop myself untill I had nothing left

I will have a look at the documentary

Anything to do with gambling ie adverts ect sends me into  an anxious state at the moment so I will wait awhile before I do

I've managed to get some information today

Total deposits are £54388

Withdrawal £14500

Reversed withdrawals £23780

Who in there right mind reverses over £23000

Most reversed are around 3-4k

From the 1st of September to 14th Nov

You weren't in the right state of mind, cause of tilt

good that you made some withdrawals that's sensible.

reversing withdrawals is something players talk about and most of the time it leads to losses. I've only ever done it once and lost it. That was after finishing bonus wagering.

Yeah, they work for the casino but as the compliance team they owe a duty of care to work in the best interests of the company. Hence if they re-review and find failings they should be acting on it.

It's certainly a lot better to sort any issues out before it gets potentially escalated to other parties outwith their control.

It's why most complaints areas have an Ombudsman and companies don't tend to like the complaints being escalated to such. Having said that, Casinos in the UK don't really have one as the UKGC aren't one seemingly - maybe why a lot of casinos chance their arm as they know recourse is limited.

Now, compare that to the financial services industry and it's a different kettle o fish

They have sent me a source of wealth that means they have done a risk assessment as part of the Aml process but never completed your obligation

Or they sent me a sow because of my deposit amount and never completed the process for the DDC kyc

Or they sent me a sow because of my red flags on my account and never completed your obligation to responsible gambling / social responsibility

All 3 obligations result in a failure

Does this seem right??

The way in which it should be done should be done as part of the Enhanced Due Diligence Process - basically, if you're asked for it it means that as part of their risk assessment, they've deemed you to fall within the category of being a high risk in terms of potential money laundering (doesn't mean you are, just that they've categorised you as falling in this category)

Could be deposit amounts, type of play, various patterns etcetc - each will have their own set of risk indicators.

Can be established via a number of ways:

 - Land/company registers

 - Past Transactions

- Open source

 - HMRC doc's etc etc

Touched upon something - last one.....SOW SHOULD NEVER BE USED FOR RG PURPOSES IF IT'S STATED IT'S FOR AML - NO WAY HOSE. If they want to request this info, for RG, they have to explicitly state - under GDPR, THEY CANNOT, request for SOW/ML and then proceed to use it for RG. If you find them doing this, report them to the ICO.

Does the request state it's for RG OR AML? It should really state this.

The reason for the contact is that under the conditions of our operating license we’re required to ask our customers for information and proof regarding how they earn the funds they use to gamble. It won’t take a minute, you just need to read this email and then log into the My Account section and upload a document or documents proving your source of funds.

Depending up how the funds you use to gamble came into your possession, for example if you are a salaried employee, or a business owner, or you sold property, or inherited money, will depend upon the type of document or documents you need to upload.

SOW is just to check if the funds used to gamble were obtained legally and in this case you weren't doing anything illegal just using your savings to inject into the casinos' fat wallet.

I'm trying to find out on what grounds they sent me one and if there in compliance for not having me fill it in and continue to deposit around a further 40k with a gambling addiction

Not a lot you can do tbh that I know of. The UKGC are aware and even if they did get involved it’d be to investigate their possible breaches, rather than provide a remedy.

Do find it odd that these issues fall into a black hole

It's really frustrating I have put it to ecogra adr but I don't think they will take it on because it's regulatory issuses

UKGC are waiting for me to send  my sar's information and they asked me to email the company (playojo) and request a deadlock letter with information from there investigations and said if they don't send me one it's another breach

I have read that Ellis jones solicitors have won cases with all the same regulatory issues  trouble is I've gambled all my money and can't afford to take legal action at the moment

Can you sell your car/cars if you have any and get the legal action started or get a quick loan to pay for the legal action, maybe even an interest free loan from relatives.
