Hi, so I opened a account with sticky slots, deposited £100 received a £200 bonus. Beat the wagering and tried to withdraw £1899. It sat pending for 3 days then the withdrawal was rejected and all winnings were confiscated . This was due to the fact that I had bet up to and including £5 per spin during the bonus.

So when I take a bonus I always look through the terms basically to see what max bet I can play, what slots don’t count to wagering and if there is a cap on winnings from a bonus. I read the terms as that I was allowed to bet upto £5 per spin but apparently not, apparently the max per spin is £4.99 even though £4.99 is not once stated on the terms but £5 on the other hand is there clear enough to see. Why would the terms state a figure that you can’t bet instead of the max figure that you can bet? Well that’s so they can do exactly what they have done to me and confiscate all winnings because if you are lucky enough to beat the wagering you have probably I’m guessing done at least some £5 spins thus going over the £4.99 max bet(which again is not presented in the terms) this to me is absolutely ludicrous and IN MY OPINION a direct attempt to prevent them from paying out larger wins and very sneaky. I can only imagine that this has happened to others, I seen one forum post where someone had put a warning about this back in January, unfortunately I only seen that when it was too late. Really can’t believe this would sit well with anyone who uses online casinos so therefore spreading the word.

The below is the only part of the mass amount of terms that informs you of your max bet allowed.

 

“ Other examples of irregular game play include but are not limited to placing single bets equal to or in excess of the lower of £5/€5/$5/50kr or 5% of the value of the bonus.”

 

So I did place £5 bets thinking that the max bet was £5 but I’m 100% I’m not the only one who would/have, clearly tho this is not me trying to abuse the bonus.

Yep, I agree with you there. Nowadays, casinos are turning to using tricky use of terms in their T&C and Bonus Policies to easily 'mislead' readers and players! Take that max bet term for example. Upon reading it once, anyone would assume that 5/$/EUR/GBP would be the maximum bet that can be allowed when playing with bonuses...but the wording actually indicates 'include' that 5/$/EUR?GBP bet size...meaning, that bet size is included as breaching the terms! Hence the max bet is actually only 4.99/$/EUR/GBP!

 

I hope more players would seriously take note of this misleading term and learn from it...before being caught out and losing lots of money.  ;)

Keep in mind the tile of your forum topic has just been edited so that the text will correspond with the real facts and not with imaginary accusations from your side. 

 

As you are already well in aware, your complaint against the aforementioned operator has been rejected due to acknowledged violation of the disputed max bet rule while playing with bonus funds. Whether you consider this particular as fair and sufficiently explained or not is your personal opinion of course. However you must take into account the fact that you failed to read carefully that rule and admit your own fault prior accusing the operator...

 

And the text of the disputed rule is crystal clear actually: 

 

 

 

Without derogating from any other provision in this policy, before any withdrawals are processed, your play will be reviewed for any irregular playing patterns. In the interests of fair gaming, equal, zero or low margin bets or hedge betting, shall all be considered irregular gaming for bonus play-through requirement purposes. Other examples of irregular game play include but are not limited to, placing single bets equal to or in excess of the lower of £5 / €5 / $5 / 50kr or 5% of the value of the bonus or the lower of £2 / €2 / $2 / 20kr or 2% of the value of the bonus if you made a deposit via either Neteller or Skrill (including where such limit is exceeded due to any double up or other feature of any game) until such time as the wagering requirements for that bonus have been met. Should we deem that irregular game play has occurred, we reserve the right to withhold any withdrawals, confiscate all winnings and/or block your access to our services and products and/or your account without being under any obligation to pay you any funds held in your account.

 

In my humble opinion, the only constructive and useful approach in such a situation would be to accept it, learn your lesson and move on without repeating the same mistake of NOT reading carefully the bonus rules in the future. It's that simple actually...

You might think that €4,99 max bet is ridiculous, which I personally think it is. Placing a bet of 4,99 is not possible and we'd assume betting one penny more couldn't do no harm but as you have noticed it did. Though I am totally agree with you but the terms are there and as soon you accepted them, you have to follow them and failing to do so, the consequences are 'rightfully' yours whether you like it or not. Believe me that this rule was not the worst one. SkillOnNet casinos for example, bonus claimed via Skrill or Neteller have a max bet rule of €1. Though most casinos have excluded Skrill and Neteller from their bonuses, the casino you mentioned is generous, tricky but generous. Filing a complaint against them about this issue is hopeless since you're the one to blame. I'm sorry but it is what it is but you'd have to swallow the bitter pill and move on. I hope they refunded your deposited money, if they did, there's no harm done and you can consider yourself lucky.

Hi and thanks for the replies so far, ValDes I think you are being very diplomatic, on the only other forum post about this ruling from sticky slots YOU strongly suggested to the poster that they should file a complaint regarding losing their winnings due to betting £5 instead of £4.99.

DO NOT get me wrong, after reading the rule a few times I fully understand it, however IN MY OPINION is a clear attempt to abuse players who win and have spun £5 spins. Seriously why would they not state in the terms something like max bet is £4.99? Then obviously nobody would bet £5 during bonus. I also think your missing the point regarding my stance on the matter, my reason for wanting to get a complaint open is that hopefully someone from the casino would have to comment on the complaint and explain that I had my monies forfeited due to betting £5 instead of £4.99 this leaving a trail for more potential customers who may be unlucky enough to unknowingly mistakenly go over the max bet rule by 0.01

Let me be completely straightforward with you or less 'diplomatic' is you prefer. :) As long as the "EQUAL TO" part is duly presented within the disputed term/s there is nothing and no one who could help you getting back your confiscated winnings. Agree though that the bonus rules referring to max allowed bonus bets chosen by this particular casino group are certainly unusual compared to the common wording used by most of the other online casinos. However, 'unusual' doesn't necessarily means "unfair", so your interpretation of the discussed term/s could be useful for other players of course, but has zero legal grounds unfortunately. There is something you could do though...

Why don't you contact the regulator or the relevant ADR entity and alert them regarding the aforementioned term/s?
