Can I trust Skrill Again?

Most of you already know about what happened to me a couple of years ago (for our newer members, money got stolen out my account, Skrill handed it terribly, eventually got the money back which they even failed to tell me was in my account - long story short) since that my trust with Skrill has been, well basically there hasn't been any there.

Gradually over the last year I'd say I've taken baby steps to start using them again. Customer support has and always will be terrible and that is my major concern and until someone proves me wrong with their customer support I will always doubt them. However I am the first person to say when someone does well...

I did transfer some money from my Skrill to my bank and I couldn't believe it when the money reached my bank in about 4-5 hours!! When I was back using Skrill full time withdrawals sometimes took up to 3 days.

So, with their now fast withdrawal times it begs my original question - Can I trust Skrill again?

Thoughts please guys? Any experience in the last two years with them would be great for me to hear good and bad. At the moment I fund my casino playing with my card and I've missed using Skrill BUT I will only go back to them if I feel I can 100% trust them with my money again.

Hey Sharon

I use skrill often and would say they can be trusted. I mean I used neteller and money got stolen out of my account as well and got the money back. Neteller and Skrill are sister companies now. I hate the fact that none of them have live chat, really pisses me off. Emails get answered within 48 hours from skrill which is very long. I never really tried to withdraw money from them as wire transfers take up to 12 business days to hit my account.

One fact  - Skrill is the reason why most casinos now lately implementing the restriction on claiming welcome offers using e-wallets like skrill and neteller, because of Fraud. Not sure the behind the scenes part of this statement.

I mean I simply cannot be without skrill and neteller at the moment for online gambling reasons - I use ecopayz most of the time though.

I have however implemented 2 step authentication on skrill and neteller which makes your account more secure - Which really works.

So for now I will say i can trust them, but then again any other methods, e-wallets and payment systems have their ups and downs.

But If i can speak on behalf of you - If i were to live in the UK, I would definitely use skrill because of the quick money transfers to bank account and the fact that they cater all their products, including master card to your e-wallet for UK residents, which is good.

The rest of the world or places like south africa just can use the e-wallet no other features and offerings are available for my Country which sucks, which is why I use ecopayz and my 2nd option neteller and my 3rd is my last resort which is skrill.

So that is my overview...

I wouldn't hold huge amounts of cash in it though. They're not covered by the compensation scheme so if anything happens to them you can kiss bye bye to your money. Also don't have the last resort...chargeback debit protection if a casino does you wrong. I've had money on hold there as well, rubbish customer service means you don't have much confidence in them...all in all that's why i no longer use Skrill. Can you trust them? Probably as much as any financial institution. But that's not saying much.

Thanks both for your replies. Even if I start using Skrill again I'd never make the mistake of holding money in it again - that trust I will never get back. My trust doesn't lie on how safe my account is, it lies mainly on how support can help me if I have problems again.

I'm remaining undecided for now.

Well If support is one of the issues, then you rather stay away, because they only have email support and to wait 48 hours for them to respond is too long.

Have you considered Ecopayz? They have mastercard, their fees are significantly lower and most of all they have live chat 24 hours available...

Also when you order a mastercard credit card linked to your e-wallet, then it cost you nothing, only a replacement card has a fee.

With Skrill neteller, for the first master card you pay $13 or something.

As for me, there can be only one choice, and one choice only...Neteller.

Skrill is not available in my country, but I have no good reasons to try out any other provider either.  :p

Live Chat for Neteller is always available, but I have not used it since the last time I used it (when my money got stolen), but response by email can indeed be slow, from several hours up to 24 hours.

But of course, I'm only talking about what I know from my past experiences. Don't know if they have gone worse or better since then, but I haven't had any other problems with Neteller  ever since...so I'm more than happy to stick with them.  ^_^

Yes it does...but it's only for VIPs. I've used it when I was a Bronze VIP and I've used it when I was a Gold VIP too.  ^_^

The link is in your account page.

I was on bronze VIP once but no live chat anywhere i could see.

Anyways i hardly use them these days.

Thanks for confirming

I suppose then you need to deposit and transfer more than $15 a month to reach silver or is it more?

You need to transact $50,000 in one year to get to Silver VIP...$100,000 for Gold.

My Golden days are over...I'm back to Bronze now...since April this year.  :p

Urgh....Support is such a biggie for me my main concern with Skrill since my event is if something goes wrong I may as well have no-one to turn to because that's how their agents make me feel.

@Fiekie - You've actually mentioned EcoPayz to me before and if I recall it rightly, I have already registered my account but not used it. The name just isn't familiar to me and I struggle with something I don't know if that makes sense.

But....maybe I'll get over my insecurities with Skrill and give them one last shot, I'll never hold money in there though.

Yes, whatever e-wallet you, or anyone, uses, never ever leave any big sum of money in there.

Those hackers may be peeking in every now and then...we never know.  :p

I like the Skrill in the past but now they have really high fees. I have a Skrill mastercard, they take 10 euro from my balance "annual maintance fee". I have this card almost three years ago but never had to pay fees like nowdays. I conntinue to use it but I will be happy if they reduce those fees :D

Yep, I too have that same charge it's ridiculous. Shame they didn't use the money they profit from the annual fees and invest it in getting better training for their support agents!
