[UPDATED 3.] The brand new and improved AskGamblers website

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a weird error today where I don't appear to be logged in on some pages, and if I click the login button I get something like this.. .inline-logon {username: "raverbabe", password: "...", error: "Incorrect Username or Password"} ... I'll paste the exact message next time I see it, but obviously my username and password are correct and even if they weren't the blank white page with just that line on it definitely doesn't seem to be the way the error should appear!

It seems like a few members are having similar problems with the 'logging in and out'. I'll get this sent over now to the team, Its difficult because I don't have any specific examples to give but I'll let the team know there's are some issues and I'll let you know if I have a response.

To me, this Bell icon is PROBABLY the best new innovation from Askgamblers yet!

What's more, I don't ever have to shuffle through the numerous notifications in my mailbox anymore, and that makes for good happy sessions of reading emails as well as reading messages in the forum.

Only one thing though...I hope my profile inbox won't run out of space...I'm already more than 30% used up...

and I hope that all those unwanted or read notifications can be deleted at any time...I haven't done this yet, nor checked on it.  :p

@Afi - Do you mean you PM inbox yes?

If so they can indeed be deleted. Just tick the little box at the side of the conversation, scroll down to the bottom select 'Delete' and the 'Go'.

The weird login problem is happening again right now, the browser goes to

www.askgamblers.com/inline-login

And the screen shows a single line:

{"userId":"5543617f7528f78051xxxxxx"}

I removed the last bit just incase its enough to steal my login session... made that mistake before!

I normally get his error when my login session expired. So if i  am logged in and not active,  and i post or refresh page, i get that error. I close the browser/tab, reopen the website and login if not already logged in. Not sure if its relevant.

It seems like there is a bug, it's currently being worked on so hopefully you won't need to keep going through all that.

A strange thing is the forum remembers who I am even if I can see the Register / Login options at the top of the screen, so I think perhaps the site as a whole is keeping track of users but whichever part handles drawing the bar along the top has a bug in it somewhere.

I've had a boyfriend who writes websites at work for a decade now so I'm depressingly familiar with this kind of stuff. He keeps trying to get me to go for a job doing it myself but I think it would make my head explode personally!

Good luck getting it fixed though :)

Well, even right now as I'm writing this, I'm still in one minute and out the next! Really really strange!

Have tried logging in from the Login Page...have tried logging in from the Forum section itself, but that never works...

Me get logged out every now and then as well. I just post something on the forum, and whenever i go to another page in the the forum then i need to login again. When i enter my credentials i get that Inline username error small in the top left corner of the browser as per attached, very frustrating at times, because i sometimes wrote a long post and then lost it or even if i write a review it takes me to the login page then i need to rewrite my review . Then i need to close the tab or browser and open the askgamblers website, then it automatically logs me in.

AFI, right now I have the login / join options in the bar along the top of the page but I'm still able to post here in the forum no problem. When I do try and login from these "broken" pages though it rejects my password, so I don't know what on earth is going on!

Guys - I'm aware this is still an issue and I really am sorry, It's being chased up today, just be patient guys it will all be fixed soon.

May as well use the space! I keep on missing new PMs so maybe I'll just click this for the sake of it every once in a while... if it wasn't for all these casinos flooding my inbox with junk every day I might not miss the notifications though! Surely there has to be a better solution than e-mail for keeping in touch with players these days...?...

I'm exactly the same I always miss my messages coming in then when I check there's like 20 unread! So I'm glad this feature is back.

Okay guys the problem with logging in and out should now be fixed. But please continue to tell me if and when you have any more problems.

Thanks for your patience.

YEP! I have found this out many hours ago since early this morning...

No more being kicked out of the forum like I'm an unwanted thing...

If you still haven't notice it, please now give it many flings...

If you still have problems, give our darling many ting-a-ling-a-ling!  :D

I must admit, i like the new Desktop Alert notification that pop up whenever someone like your post or quoted one of your post.  Almost like when you receive a new email in outlook and get that desktop alert in the lower right corner above your time.

This useful add-on was in fact present in the previous website version with the launch of the AskGamblers Notification feature. ;)

You could change its settings from the notifications page - http://www.askgamblers.com/settings#notifications

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the option which suits your current preferences.
