Stake.com blocking player withdrawals

Stake.com are blocking players from withdrawing their own funds.
They are refusing to allow players to withdraw until they hand over valuable personal data.

There is no regulatory requirement for Curacao licensed casinos, such as Stake.com, to carry out KYC checks on players.

If players send their Personal Data  to a casino that is licensed in Curacao, that data has no legal protection under Curacao law.
Any data given to Stake.com becomes the property of Stake.com they can sell that data to the highest bidder if they choose.

If you do deposit to stake.com, you should note that you may be asked for your personal data in exchange for
the privilege of being able to withdraw your own money.

is this something new that Stake is doing or have they always been doing this verification requirement?

I have one 3 year old platinum account, in excellent standing.
It is currently blocked from making withdrawals until I submit personal data.

I asked Stake support the following:
Why do you require my personal data, when you have no regulatory requirement to so?
Why am I receiving marketing emails saying you never withhold player funds, when you clearly do?

They refuse to answer the questions asked and just state "it's in our TOS that we can request KYC".

Earlier this month the players email address database was compromised by a hacker.
So I have no confidence in Stake keeping my personal data secure. When I mentioned this support
they pretended it never happened.

So basically it comes down to:

hand over your personal data with a high risk of Identity Theft.
or
Say goodbye to your funds on site.
