Since its launch last year, this 'new' game from Play'nGo has become available at other casinos too, and I got the chance to try it out for the very first time only quite recently. My first impressions were not too bad. I like the big icons in the game, they make a visually pleasing appearance which is easy on the eyes, and I like the vibrant colours of the icons against that greyish-purplish background too. Not astonishing by any standards, but pleasing nonetheless.
The Wild symbol in the game pays only 250x the line bet for 5 of them , which is very low, it doesn't pay for itself, it doesn't doubles any wins with it, and substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol, as usual. Very disappointing indeed for the most important symbol of any game. The logo 'Super Flip' is the Scatter symbol, 5 of which pays 250x the total bet, which is pretty good, better than the usual 100x, and getting 3 or more of these Scatters award 15 free spins with 'Flipped Reels', for greater wins, and more free spins can be retriggered, up to a maximum of 90 free spins. However, there aren't any win multipliers attached to the free spins. What that Flipped Reels actually means is nothing more than flipping reels 4 and 5 with reels 1 and 2, where reels 4 and 5 have more of the stacked symbols. So during the free spins, more stacked symbols would appear on reels 1 and 2, as opposed to appearing more on reels 4 and 5, for greater winning chances. Hmm, whatever! This didn't impress me at all, not from what I have seen so far.
The Diamond symbol pays 250x, the Star pays 80x, the Horseshoe pays 80x too, the Clover Leaf pays 40x, the Strawberry pays 40x as well, and all others pay a flat 20x, all per line bet amounts for 5 of each kind. All symbols are stacked on all the reels, or so the paytable says. In the base game, these stacked symbols tend to appear mostly on reels 4 and 5 only, as mentioned earlier, but the Wild symbol hardly comes stacked at all, only appearing stacked during the free spins. A very disappointingly low paytable.
In the base game, getting 2 matching symbols on any active payline on reels 1 and 2, triggers one respin of reel 3, for another chance at making a winning combination. Sometimes this works, most times it doesn't, as can be expected. Getting a 10x total bet win with the highest paying symbol, the Diamond, contributes to a 'Big Win', but lower symbols do not. Hmm, whatever.
With such a low paytable, I knew before hand that this Super Flip game would need a miracle to pay out really big. The base game was boring, even though the background music was lively enough. Most of the spins tend to be empty ones, for many spins in a row, perhaps as badly as in Starburst, which contributes to the boredom. In one of my Free Spins games, I even ended up with a nice big dinosaur egg as a reward. What the argh! In another instance, I got 4 of those big Diamonds on 3 paylines, and the payout was only 15x the total bet. Yet another "what the argh!" My final words on this Super Flip game? It made me flipped!
