Another decent ten line game from Play N Go, quite similar to their game "Golden Caravan" overall but that isn't such a bad thing as this game shares the same maximum 5,000x stake maximum win which is always a prize worth playing for. I prefer the graphics in this game too, everything is drawn in gorgeous high resolution and the colours really stand out in this game too. It's not THE most beautiful slot game I have played and the symbols could surely be more interesting but for the given theme I don't really see how any provider could really improve on the visuals offered here.

Games with nine or ten lines very often have the best paytables and that is also the case here - the top paying symbol returns 100x your stake for a five of a kind, with 50x and 25x offered for the next two symbols down which is a much nicer gradual slope than the paytables offered in games by Thunderkick for example. I don't feel as if there is only one symbol I am interested in when I play this game which I see as being a definite plus.

During the free spins the scatter symbol is converted into an additional wild, but it can still award retriggers as well. I really love it when scatters also act as wilds and even just getting this feature during the free spins really improves this game for me. A full line of wilds also pays 5,000 coins too and achieving this is so much more likely with the extra wilds added to the reels which makes the free spins all the more exciting.

Overall this is really quite a basic machine but thanks to its single spin jackpot it's one that I'd definitely consider playing for a decent part of any gaming session and even though it's getting on a little bit now I think I do prefer this game over some of Play N Go's more recent efforts which have also been very respectable machines in their own right. If your not too fussed about the theme of your games (or if you just have a thing for historic looking naval themed games...?) then this is definitely worth checking out.
As with the majority of Play N Go slots the bonus symbol appears only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and it often seems as if at least one of these will appear on every single spin. This can be quite frustrating at times because the ships will block other winning combinations and the frequency of you landing one or two of these onscreen really does not some to tally with your chances of actually landing all three to trigger the free spins bonus.

Sails of Gold is a medium variance game where you can win a lot if you are lucky. This is a video slot game from Play N` Go that I play from time to time. There are not big wins during the base game, but only small wins that come on regular basis. Sometimes it is very difficult to activate the feature so these small wins help me in keeping my bankroll for a while and enjoy the game play.

Sails of Gold is a 5 reels and 10 pay lines video slot game. The highest amount that I have won during the base game was only 50 x bet, but I cannot say the same for the free spins round. This is where the magic happens. I always play this game when I have more money on my balance, because it takes time to activate the free spins feature. There were times when I was playing the game and I was not even close to triggering the free spins.

The last time I played this game I had the 3 ship scatter symbols at the very beginning of the session. You need the scatter symbols on the first, third and the fifth reel and that is why it is sometimes difficult to get them at the same time. At the end of the feature I got a win of around 450 x bet. And the thing here is that most of the spins were losing, I got this amount in 2 or 3 spins only. This shows the potential of this slot. This allowed me to play this game for quite a while. Unfortunately I raised my bet because I hoped that the same will happen again, that I will activate the free spins but it did not. I lost my money but I had a great gaming experience. I would definitely recommend the Sails of Gold video slot game to anyone.

Today, I decided to join Christopher Colombus and set sail to the open seas to explore and discover new lands. There's still plenty of new 'lands' for me to discover, especially those in the 'Play'nGo' continent, of which I've only discovered a few. Christopher may have made new discoveries with his steering wheel and his compass, but for me, I shall make new discoveries with my steering fingers and my laptop. Centuries ago, yes, they would say new discoveries without going out to the open seas would be impossible. Nowadays, new discoveries can be found without needing to venture out in the dark. New discoveries can also be found by spending time just sitting in the loo! Hahaha.

Sails of Gold, referring to those particular ships that appear only during the free spins, otherwise, it's just another ship with sails of white linen, or whatever, the kind that you will find here in the base game. Those ships are the Scatter symbols, appearing only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and getting all three of them at the same time awards 10 free spins with the Golden Ship Wilds. Getting all 3 of these ships do not reward you with any cash, strangely and dumbly enough, but merely to trigger or retrigger more free spins, if you're lucky enough to get them. The good 'ole' Christopher is none other than the Wild symbol, and getting all five of him would pay 5000x the line bet. However, these Wilds don't double any wins, they don't come stacked or expanded, neither do they move about on the reels. In my books, they are still considered as dumb Wilds! The other symbols pay from 1000x down to 100x the line bet for 5 of each kind. Centuries ago, these values would be considered incredible, but nowadays, they are nothing more than very low and crappy. With such a low paytable, don't ever expect to get nice big wins from Sails of Gold. Be satisfied with what you can get, or don't play the game at all!

Playing this game for the very first time, it immediately reminded me of another game from Play'nGo, that of Golden Caravan. The same 10-paylines, the same game concept, the same scatter-turn-Wild feature, and almost sharing the same paytable too, but that of Golden caravan has better win values for the symbols. Sails of Gold sets out with lower values, and hence with lower win possibilities. This becomes quite apparent when you start playing the game with real money. Most of the spins would be payless, or with very small payouts for 3-of-a-kinds, not even enough to get your bet amount back. 2 Ship Scatters may come a few times closely together, but doesn't pay anything and doesn't award anything, because the third ship hardly ever comes into the horizon. So every appearance of those 2 white ships only brought disappointment for me, most of the time.

I did get a few of the Free Spins game, needless to say, those 10 free spins without any win multiplier, sad to say, with payouts from the game that hardly makes anyone's day. The wins that I have gotten from the free spins were like 3x, 4x, 8x, 11x and 15x my total bet. 5 Free Spins games won, and not one game paid more than 20x my bet, and none of the retriggers as well! That really really sucks! Unlike with Golden Caravan, my first ever play on that game was a lot of fun, entertaining, getting several Free Spins games, getting retriggers, and getting decent payouts too. Why couldn't Sails of Gold be like that too?
With its very low paytable, with its lack-lustre gameplay, with its non-exciting Wilds and Scatters, Sails of Gold failed me miserably! I was not impressed at all. Maybe it was just not my day, maybe things went the wrong way, but the game just didn't perform well in any way!
Sails of Gold is a Play ‘N Go powered slot game with 5 reels, 10 paylines and is playable on all devices. Based on Christopher Columbus who is in search for new treasures.

The game has your standard symbol and some high pay symbols including compass and Columbus himself acting as wild and can pay up to x5000 your line bet if you can get 5 wilds on a payline.

The game also has free spins feature that can be triggered when landing ships on reels 1, 3 and 5 respectively. You can win up to a maximum of 20 free spins provided you trigger the free spins during the free spins feature. During free spins the scatter symbol act as an additional wilds, which means it could generate some extra winnings and even big winnings. I must say triggering the feature is easy and can happen often. Similar to how easy you can get 2 scatters on wild north, the same applies here.

I haven’t had a big win here, but this game keeps my balance in check. It does not eat or consume my balance quickly. If a lot of casinos offered this game, I will easily use this game to crush wagering in hours, if this game is on fire you will win all the time.

I think Sails of Gold is a low to medium variance slot – saying that, you can win up to 5,000 times your stake in the game but do keep in mind that big wins will not happen often, or at least from my experience. I like this game and always have a good session here as I always walk away with a small profit and never actually made a lost here.
This game lacks a multiplier feature during free spins or whenever wild appears in a winnings combination.

Christopher Columbus is synonymous with adventure, risk, and achievement, a real gambler from my point of view. Well, Play'n GO has taken the name of this important figure in our history to make it the center of the subject of its new slot called “Sails of Gold,” which is a game with a fairly sober design where apparently it is intended that the player will remain totally calm while spinning the reels again and again, and one aspect that works very well in the formation of this pacified environment is the use of distressing background music and sound effects that give a touch of mystery.

I guess this calm ambiance is an invitation to the patience, which is certainly a very useful quality when it comes to playing a slot with only 10 lines like this.

After my first session with “Sails of Gold” slot, I have noticed that it is a game of very low variance, perfect to try to meet those wagering requirements when we accept some bonuses package offered by some casino. Personally, I have reached this conclusion after observing that, through the proper management of bet levels, the balance of my account always remained very close to my starting point.

Routine play in this slot usually pass smoothly; so, when we began to spin the reels, we can see that most of the symbols on the screen usually correspond to symbols of numbers and letters, since from the 8 ordinary symbols that make up this slot, only 3 are high symbols; however, it is also evident that the wild symbol, identified with a portrait of Christopher Columbus, appears with some consistency and helps quite in the formation of lines.

Now, the 10 free spins round usually happen with some frequency, so here it is always a good opportunity to push a little our balance if we have already adopted a strategy of increasing bets; our chance to hit more and better lines is increased during free games because during them we have two symbols simultaneously replacing standard symbols; the first one is the regular wild and the second is the symbol of the golden boat that during this round performs functions of scatter and wild symbol at the same time. Still, the gains during these 10 free spins are usually quite moderated as to try to extract a real big win from this round.

Overall, I think “Sails of Gold” is a fairly quiet game that very likely will not empty your balance during a single session, but you will hardly get rich in one fell swoop; it is a good game anyway.
