One of the very latest game from IGT, Dragon's Temple, has 50 paylines, 5 reels and 4 rows. Not in my favourite 5-reels 3-rows format, but the overall appearance is still acceptable to me. It doesn't appear cluttered, confusing or distracting. I like the way the Dragon's Wild symbols, the logo symbols and the Yin Yang Scatter symbols appear on the reels. They are big and easily recognisable, the way they should be, for comfortable playing, without straining the eyes. The overall graphics may not be astounding nor astonishing, but simplicity in itself is always a good virtue. This, I like, and there aren't many 5-reels 4-rows games that I do like, I must admit.
The Dragon is the Wild symbol, 5 of which pays 20x the total bet, which is very low indeed. Each reel has its own coloured Dragon Wild symbol, in five colours, but all being the same and identical in its function and in its payouts. Whenever they appear on any of the reels, they become a fully Expanded Wild Reel, so it is possible to get 5 Wild Reels of these expanded dragons, as in Wild Desire and in some other games too. This is a big plus point for the game, provided of course that it is possible to get all of them. We'll never know until someone gets them for real. Hope it's not just theoretical!
The 'Yin Yang' is the Scatter symbol, appearing only on reels 2, 3 and 4. Getting all 3 of them pays 5x the total bet and triggers a Free Spins game. There are 3 options to choose from - 15 free spins with a Wild Reel on reel 3 for every spin, 10 free spins with Wild Reels on reel 2 and 4 for every spin, or 5 free spins with Wild Reels on reels 1, 3 and 5 for every spin. Great choices there, with those 3 Wild Reels seeming the most interesting and with the highest probability of giving good wins, if you can get the wins, of course. What seems easy is not always so!
The logo 'Dragon's Temple' pays 20x the total bet for 5 of them, but winning it with any Wild symbol pays only 10x the total bet. Oh gees, why must this be so? That's half of the win amount gone. The Temple pays 10x, the Packets pay 8x, the Fish pays 6x, the Vase pays 5x, and all the lower symbols pay from 4x to 0.6x, all per total bet for 5 of each kind. Well, too bad, but the paytable is a very low one, so hopefully those Wild Reels would pay out good decent wins to make this Dragon's Temple game worthwhile playing.
I've only played this new game twice so far, wanting to try it out, so whatever I have to say about this game is not conclusive nor extensive. I'd like to make that clear right from the start. The first thing that I don't like is how every small win gets the winning animation, which is really unnecessary, because it slows down the game tremendously, so much so, it soon becomes irritating! There aren't any option to play the game in 'Quick Spin' mode, thereby not allowing for a faster game play, so players just have to keep up with the slowish spins.
Well, my 2 plays on the game weren't good at all. I do like those Dragon Wild Reels appearing quite frequently, although not always creating any good wins with it, but it keeps the game interesting to an extent. But, the frequent low payouts took its toll not long after, and I found myself reluctant to go on playing the game. No good wins worth mentioning so far.
