Arcade Fortunes Slot

Play for real money

Arcade Fortunes is a progressive 18-payline video slot, running on the Arrow's Edge software. This game is inspired by the arcade culture of the 80s. There are two main characters, Jason and Katie, including symbols such as a Walkman tape, a skateboard, a refreshing soda and an arcade game machine. The slot features lots of neon lights and some authentic arcade machine sound effects. Players are welcome to try the game here for free, or visit any of the listed Arrow's Edge Casinos to play for real money.

Before going back to the 80s, players are advised to adjust their bets first. There are up to 18 “Lines” to be selected by using the arrow keys. When you click on the “Total Bet” option, you will manage the coins size, which varies from 0.01 to 10. “Autoplay” turns reels for the chosen number of times. To start the game, players need to push the “Spin” button.

The Bubble Gum is the Wild symbol, which turns into a Sticky Wild. It acts as a replacement for all other symbols, except the Scatter. Once it occurs, the Wild lands on the reel 5 and activates the Bubble Gum feature. During the feature, the Wild bursts into 1, 2 or 3 separate bubblegum pieces that spread over the rest of the reels. Then, the remaining pieces of gum become new Wild symbols and stay still throughout the feature.

The Scatter is the Arcade Game Machine Bonus symbol, which may occur in any position on the reels 1, 3 and 5. You need to land at least 3 Scatters simultaneously to activate the Bonus Round. As soon as the Bonus Round is triggered, players can choose between the Skee Ball Bonus and the Galaxy Bonus. The Skee Ball Bonus offers 3 random prizes, whereas the Galaxy Bonus offers one.

After each winning combination, Double Up feature is triggered. You can skip the feature, or play in order to increase your winning potential. By using the machine that is designed in the style of an arcade claw, players can pick one of the available toys in order to reveal their prizes. If they manage to grab the toy, the claw crane will allow them to double their winnings. If not, players will end up with no prizes and will be returned back to the main game.

This is the first time I've come across a game from Arrows Edge software, but I was immediately attracted by the blocky symbols and the arcade machine theme of the game. I'm a sucker for anything 80s related and this game looked like just the kind of thing to spark that nostalgia bug in me!

I certainly felt like I could be on the right lines once the game began to load and I heard it's music - big 80s style chords set against a half speed beat sets my expectations high and the chunky digital display style symbols look even better when shown full size compared to the tiny thumbnail graphic that first attracted me to try the game.

First spin I hit a small win and my eyes lit up when three of the symbols transformed to show "Sticky Wild" as the reels begun to respin - oh yes! I absolutely love sticky wilds and anybody who has won a few thousand times their stake on NetEnt's Dead or Alive no doubt feels the same so I couldn't wait to find out what winning potential this feature might have in this game.

Throughout my next hundred spins or so I worked out that the "Bubble Gum" symbol which only appears on the fifth reel adds three sticky wilds to the screen and awards three respins every time it appears. It's not possible to get more than three sticky wilds at a time unfortunately and sadly there isn't a regular wild symbol on the reels either, which is a little disappointing.
The regular symbol combinations are relatively high paying in this game, which would be fantastic of course usually but when I finally managed to hit the scatters and get into the bonus round I soon realised why - neither of the two arcade themed features appear to have a great deal of winning potential, so most of your winnings are going to come from base game hits unless you are lucky enough to hit one of the two progressive jackpots. Both are in the high thousands at present so it's fair to assume they will be extremely difficult to hit, and like any progressive slot you are going to be paying towards those jackpot pools with every single spin you make.

I really wanted to like Arcade Fortunes, it's a nice looking game and I didn't even find myself reaching for the "mute" button within five minutes, which makes a change for an on-line slot. Sadly though the lack of an exciting bonus round really spoilt the game for me - this isn't a game I want to play for real money anytime soon.
