Best Casino Themed Movies

September 27, 2014.

The weekend is finally here, so make sure you use it wisely. After a busy week, relax and enjoy your spare time as you recharge your batteries because another busy week is lurking just around the corner.

We here at AskGamblers were brainstorming what to do this weekend and we came up with a fantastic idea. We thought that it might be just perfect to spend this first chilly autumn weekend watching some of the greatest casino films.

And of course, all of you AskGamblers are invited to join us. We already have a few legendary films in mind, so take a look and find out which.

AskGamblers ‘To Watch List’

Let’s start with an old classic - The Sting by George Roy Hill. This film will take you back in time to Chicago in 1930s and tell a story of a young con man seeking revenge for his murdered partner. To do so he teams up with a master of the big con to win a fortune from a criminal banker.

The next one is definitely Casino - a Martin Scorsese’s 1995 film which follows the life of Sam "Ace" Rothstein as he runs the mob-owned Tangiers casino. Apart from his involvement in the casino world the film also deals with his relationship with his friend Nicky Santoro and the love of his life Ginger. Greed, deception, love, power, money, murder – this film has it all.

Of course we cannot skip a James Bond film, not for anything. So naturally our list wouldn’t be complete without Casino Royale. This film is about secret agent James Bond and his first mission as 007 to defeat a weapons dealer in a high stakes game of poker at Casino Royale. However, things are not as they seem. 007 will not only discover the threatening organization behind his enemy, but the worst truth of all: no one can be trusted.

And last but not the least on our ‘to watch list’ is Ocean’s Thirteen, the first part of the trilogy by Steven Soderbergh which follows the life of Daniel Ocean. In the 1st part, Danny and his eleven accomplices plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos Bellagio, The Mirage, and the MGM Grand simultaneously during a popular boxing event.

If this little Casino themed film marathon wasn’t enough there are plenty more films on offer. Make sure you check at least one of them. Grab a bowl of popcorn and have a relaxing film night this weekend or not. Either way, have a lovely weekend!
