They have become the UK's first billionaires according to the makers of the Sunday Times Rich List 2014!

Who are the biggest makers in the UK gambling industry?

The Sunday Times have reported Peter, Denise and John Coates hit the top of the Rich List 2014 with their Bet365 goldmine pulling in an estimated £1.2bn, this is said to be worth more than the combined wealth of The Queen, Elton John, Jamie Oliver and even worldwide known football legend David Beckham! Now that really is a fortune!

The Potteries based family have had a phenomenal year. Both their online casino and their side venture 'Stoke City' have been bring in the big bucks for them. The team enjoyed their highest premier league position in their existence this year.

Unfortunately none of the other 25 richest people in Europe had anything to do with gambling but there are a few we would like to mention in the UK 1000.

Entering the list at number 107 are Fred and Peter Done - together are the owners of BetFred. The BetFred owners have an estimated £950m fortune and a diverse portfolio to go with it. Peter has involvement in Peninsula Business Services while Fred has involvement in his truck stop business. The pair also jointly own sought after property in Manchester.

Ruth Parasol and Russ Deleon are two other fat cats in the gaming industry. Parasol was the founder of Party Casino and is said to have racked in a fortune during the merge with Bwin. Their estimated worth is £740m. However, Parasol was not alone when it came to making money from the PartyGaming brand. The former Marketing Director Vikrant Bhargava pipped the post at number 367 with an estimated £250m fortune.

Betfair was the worlds first ever betting-exchange to turn the boys into men! Richard Koch entered the list at position 568th with an estimated worth of £163m.

Entering the Rich List at number 839 with a £107m fortune was 45 year old Andrew Dixon and Noel Hayden entered the charts at 440th place with a £213m fortune! Both men profiting from the Gamesys brand.

Co-founders of Betfair; Ed Wray and Andrew Black were placed on the list at numbers 774th and 863rd thanks to their combined fortune of £201m.

We mustn't forget to mention Victor Chandler himself a.k.a Bet Victor. The man in charge made an impressive £160m earning himself position 571 on the Rich List.

Jimmy and Simon Thomas a father and son act made their fortune by selling the Thomas Group bingo chain. The pair went on to buy the famous Hippodrome in Leicester Square which they have turned into a £100m casino. The pair ranked position 713th with a £110m fortune.

Phil Cronin hold the key to the door with his £80m fortune from the Tombola bingo operation earning him position 970th on the Rich List.

Michael Tabor made a £660m fortune through investing in racehorses  earning him position 170th!
