  1. Dear Comembers, My name is Lou Ellyn Green, however, I go by my nickname, Loni. Like Loni Anderson, I just don't wear as much makeup. I have lived in Las Vegas since December, 1954, when I was two months old. I've lived my life backwards: was a dancer at the Crazy Horse (I and II) from age 21 til I was 30. I decided then that I was going to have a baby, as I knew I had a lot to offer. My boyfriend of 11 years did not want children, so I left him and searched for a father for my child. I explained to the man I chose that my intentions were not to have a relationship, I only wanted a child. He agreed and on April 1, 1986, I learned I was pregnant and my true happiness began. Here I was, 31, and a single mother, by choice, and I raised my son, David, homeschooling him, devoting all my time teaching him in fun ways, on his level. I realized he was a savant when, at age two, he began spelling to me! A gifted child he was, accumulating more awards, honor rolls, and publication in the Who's Who in academics three years in a row. He also found acting to be a strong talent and performed in six productions. He was really funny and everybody loved him. I went to college at the age of 34, received an Associates Degree in Business (GPA 3.96) within 18 months. I met my husband October, 1992; married him December 12, 1992. We will celebrate 23 years of marriage this December 12, 2015. I stayed home with David til 1997, when I began a ten year career as a Legal Assistant, achieving a Federal Court Certification as a Specialist in Chapter 11 bankruptcies and a reputation in the legal field as the one to go to if you needed help. Even judges' assistants would call me from time to time with problems to be solved. I was at the last firm where I worked for one day short of five years. After attending a magnet school for high academics, David graduated in 2005, from EW Clark, high school. He died six months later, on January 6, 2006, here at home, from complications from diabetes 2. I found him dead in the bathroom. When he died, I lost my mind, and my ability to work. So, I went from $45k a year to $900 a month from SSD. So, I lost my child, then my job, they fired me on March 31, 2006, one day before my fifth anniversary so they wouldn't have to pay me the three weeks vacation days I would vest in on April 1st, 2006. Kicked to the curb after five years of loyalty with a paycheck for $60; no severance package. David is memorialized with an 9" x 11" photograph at his high school in the trophy case of the lobby in the Performing Arts Theatre; he will never be forgotten. I have become agoraphobic, and suffer from PTSD. So, I play as much as I can; it keeps my mind busy.
