hey :) i figured i'd just go ahead and ask a question i've been wondering about. i want to try out some other card games but am tired of blackjack. i know bj usually has the best odds, but what other games are out there that come close? i don't want to lose my money too quickly :p

hope that's not too stupid of a q. thanks!

Cheryl's correct -- generally baccarat is second-best to blackjack in terms of card games. Casino pokers are about twice as bad as baccarat for the most part. The only other table game that's in the same ball park as blackjack and baccarat is craps. Fun game that's actually really easy, but the board's scary to look at if you don't know what's going on LOL.

If you're looking for a simple and uncomplicated card game, nothing beats Casino War. Just you versus the dealer, one card dealt to each, higher card wins. The only strategy involved relates to a tie between you and the dealer in the form of a separate sidebet - which you should never place - or 'going to war' by betting on an additional dealt hand - which you should always do rather than surrender, although you typically get paid for a win or tie on the raise only (with the original stake returned) and nothing for a loss. House edge (and variance) is higher than in blackjack but still better than slots, ranging from about 2% to 3% using optimal strategy as described and depending on the number of decks and house rules used by the casino.

If by “best” card games you mean best odds and percentage payouts, then sorry, I don’t have the knowledge or expertise to help you. But if you just mean a game that’s fun to play, I vote for Bonus Pai Gow Poker. It requires enough thought to keep you alert and involved, but not so much that it wears out your brain cells.

Thank you, ValDes, for the warm welcome. I have been gambling for a long time but I just recently discovered this forum and I am very happy to be here. It looks like a lot of knowledgeable (and friendly) people with a lot of good ideas.

Bob Dylan sang, “We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight and ask himself if it's him or them that's insane.” And here I am, still clicking my flashlight.
