Are single software casinos a thing of the past?

When I first started gambling the in thing was very much casinos that just had one software, a casino that had multiple providers were few and far between. But how things have changed, Nowadays almost all new casinos have multiple platforms which makes me think that in a few years casinos with just one platform will become obsolete!

It's great though, I much prefer playing in a casino where I have a choice of games rather than just sticking to one. What I'd really love to see is Playtech games being rolled out more and also Rival games which are playable to UK players!!

What do you think guys? Do you agree / disagree? And which type of casino do you prefer to play in?

Frankly speaking, if all software platforms can be downloaded and be played from the desktop, I would prefer this.

Even if all Playtech casinos were to offer Instant Play option in the future, I'd still stick to my desktop play with the downloaded version. It cuts my waiting time by a lot. But Playtech now is no longer like the Playtech of yesteryear. Even the downloaded version takes a blardy long time to load some games, especially all Jackpot games, not like before. The games program and data may already be saved in the hard disk, but they don't automatically run now like before. Another new connection needs to be made first to the casino's server...and this is where my slow ISP is killing me!

Sincerely miss the good old days sometimes when I would choose a classic Microgaming casino and enjoy downloading, installing and playing the Viper client OR like Afi mentioned, the Playtech's download version... I guess those of you who played for longer would perfectly understand what I mean, you know, the cozy feeling of sharing your gambling environment with your PC only and enjoying the complete set of games which the software has to offer... Or maybe it's just me being sentimental, I don't know. :)

There are of course dozens of pros and cons in both directions, however what I know for sure from personal experience is that I got a LOT less game errors when playing the classic download casinos in comparison with the modern online casinos featuring tens of gaming providers and hundreds of different games. Weird, isn't it?...

Oh Lord, I am so nostalgic. I am not the one who likes new trends when it comes to gambling industry.

Back in time when I started my gambling 'career' most casinos used single software.

I remember there wasn't free spins bonuses but there was way more no deposit bonuses.

Even match bonuses were great with low wagering requirements.

Aaaah,,,yes indeed...a walk down memory lane...

I remember those early years when I was with Club Gold Casino (now Gold Club Casino, hehehe)...

I used to get regular WEEKLY $20 no-deposit free bonuses just to play in their casino

and those were simply one of the best bonuses anyone could ever ask for!

Later on, it was reduced to $10 per week...then it was completely stopped.

That was the hardest for me...because I needed those free bonuses to keep playing with real money for free!  :D

Now I was the opposite. I did used to used the Viper downloads but only only if I had too - I much preferred instant. I'd switch to download if I was looking for some more games to play.

But overall I'd say most of my withdrawals have come from casinos with multiple platforms.

Oooh maan...when I think back to those good old days, there were only a few game providers available to play, and all of them having a downloadable version of their softwares. Playtech, Microgaming, Real Time Gaming, Rival, Top Game and CTXM. My hard disk would be full with all the various downloaded software of these casinos...and choosing what game or which casino to play became like a thinker's game for a while, hahaha.  :D

I don't really understand why the downloaded version of Microgaming and Playtech games have superior graphics and animations in the current market - I understand the lower quality assets were used because most people had low bandwidth connections and of course the slow performance of flash in a browser compared to the "bare metal" access an installed application has to the hardware it is running on, but I am sure that current connections and computer specifications would permit the highest quality games to run within most peoples browsers.

Nevertheless, I really like just opening the 32red casino application with no browsers or other junk running on my laptop and enjoying the casino as a standalone experience. If I have a web browser open I just inevitably can't help but have other tabs open wiht AskGamblers, BBC News, GMail, and other sites distracting me from my gaming session. I'll be very sad if these standalone casinos disappear entirely but I feel they are digging their own grave as there is no casino at present offering a download client whilst also having competitive withdrawal times and promotions :(

So in short, I feel that yes, the days of the single platform casino are numbered but not because it is a bad idea to operate this way ... ! Imagine an upgraded 32red with "Battle of Slots" style tournaments and instant withdrawals (ala VideoSlots) ... I would play that casino A LOT, regardless of the fact there was only MG games!

Well, I wouldn't rush putting the cart before the horse you know...

Business-wise, no one would expect from a multi-million company like Microgaming just sitting there and waiting for a huge branch of their operations such as classic, viper MG casinos doing nothing to meet the present market challenges and committing a suicide by waiting their final days, literally. I bet that ain't gonna happen, at least not within the next decade, simply because the influence which Microgaming is having over the entire industry is enormous. Indeed, they invested a loooot in their web-based cross-platform QuickFire and the number of their clients is astonishing, maybe not as big in numbers as NetEnt for example, but close enough to make them one of the Top 3 undisputed industry leaders.

Indeed, with the technologies moving forward so rapidly, it's hard to imagine that a classic, single software online casino would even stand a chance competing with the current leaders, but.... Somehow I am quite confident that if a new or existing classic MG casino manage to acquire a serious financing and thus, improving significantly the speed of their payments as well as the quality of their overall operations and services I have no doubts they will be really successful and attract their fair share of online punters... The niche is there, it's just a matter of time for someone to grab it... I am one of those who would gladly split their monthly gambling budget and enjoy both ways of online gambling. :)
